"Who are you? You look like ordinary souls to me, but she moved with such speed
 Are you gods?"
―Yoshiie Minamoto to Druig and Makkari[src]

Yoshiie Minamoto (Kanji: æșçŸ©ćź¶) was a Minamoto clan samurai of the late Heian period, and a Commander-in-chief of the defense of the North.

Biography[]

The Oni Attack[]

Yoshiie Minamoto took it upon himself to hunt down an oni, which was terrorizing Heian-Kyo, however, he witnessed the monster being attacked by Druig and Makkari. Noticing Makkari's incredible speed, Yoshiie asked Druig were they gods, unaware of their true nature. Druig told Yoshiie that they were hunting the same creature as them and arraned a deal with Yoshiie that they will eliminate it, in exchange of Yoshiie guiding them through Heian-Kyo and keeping their presence a secret, which he accepted.

Yoshiie was alarmed about the monster's attack, so he rushed there with Druig and Makkari, and Druig warned Yoshiie to stay back. Makkari managed to take the monster down, however, they were unaware that it was a different one, and the previous monster was preparing to attack Yoshiie. Druig protected Yoshiie, taking the hit himself, so he had to take control of Yoshiie's body to kill the creature. The next day, Druig and Makkari returned to Heian-Kyo, where Yoshiie thanked them for saving the city from the monster, telling Druig that he will honor his promise and keep their presence a secret. He also gifted with his sword, Onikirimaru, in case they encounter the creature again, and bid them farewell.[1]

Equipment[]

Weapons[]

  • Onikirimaru: Yoshiie wielded a katana, known as Onikirimaru or "Oni Slayer", that he used when he fought the monster in Heian-Kyo. After the monster was slayed, Yoshiie gifted his sword to Druig and Makkari, as a token of his gratitude.
