The Spear of Bashenga is a weapon used by a Warrior Shaman of Wakanda.
History[]
The spear is made of vibranium, the most powerful substance on Earth. It was first wielded by Bashenga, a warrior shaman of Wakanda, who would become the first Black Panther.
Following Bashenga's death, the spear became a sacred treasure, passed from shaman to shaman for thousands of years, where it was primarily used in traditional ceremonies.
By 2016, the spear was wielded by Zuri, who held it at the Coronation of T'Challa and used it to signal the beginning of the duel between T'Challa and M'Baku. Likewise, Zuri held the spear during T'Challa's duel with Erik Killmonger. As Killmonger prepared to strike a final, fatal blow, Zuri used the spear to block his attack, asking he be killed in T'Challa's place. Killmonger decided to kill them both and stabbed Zuri with the spear before callously tossing it into the water of Warrior Falls, leaving the spear to be washed away.[1]
By 2024, however, the spear had been recovered and was wielded by Zawavari, the former elder of the Mining Tribe and Zuri's successor as Elder Statesman. Zawavari carried the spear during a ceremony at Warrior Falls when she announced the incoronation of Princess Shuri, the new Black Panther, only for M'Baku to appear instead and take the mantle of king.[2]
