- "The good news was the package was in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s possession. The bad news: Deke wasn't."
- âPhil Coulson[src]
The Kidnapping of Deke Shaw was a successful attempt by HYDRA operatives, who mistook Deke Shaw for S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist Niles Lindmore, to retrieve a package that Wilfred Malick wanted.
Background[]
- "Yo-Yo and Deke hit the road to retrieve the S.H.I.E.L.D. gadget from Dr. Lindmore's home."
- âPhil Coulson[src]
Deke Shaw and Yo-Yo Rodriguez were sent by Alphonso Mackenzie to retrieve a package at Niles Lindmore's house to deliver to Phil Coulson and Daniel Sousa. On the way, Rodriguez gave her view on changing things for the better for the timeline, leaving Shaw uncertain on what his view was.[1]
Kidnapping[]
- "You said to grab the guy with the case. There wasn't no one else there."
"Well, it sounds like you didn't look hard enough." - âHYDRA Gangster and Wilfred Malick[src]
Deke Shaw and Yo-Yo Rodriguez arrived at the Lindmore Residence and split up to search the house, seeing that it was broken into. While Shaw searched the ground floor, he was confronted by a gangster and was knocked out cold from behind. The two men then loaded Shaw unconscious body into the back of their car and drove off.
The gangsters took Shaw to the Malick Mansion in Los Angeles, where Shaw was reunited with a grown up Wilfred Malick. Not aware that Malick had already met Shaw back in 1931, he demanded to know where the package was, but Shaw tried to convince him that he was just a toaster salesman who was mistaken for Niles Lindmore by his goons. He was then left horrified when Malick killed the agent that mistook Shaw for Lindmore and then turned the gun on him to keep him quiet. Shaw then revealed himself as one of the men who saved his life back in 1931, so Malick decided to spare his life as a way to repay his debt to him and let him go.[1]
Aftermath[]
Deke Shaw managed to get a hold of Zephyr One and was rescued. Upon returning to the team, Shaw told Yo-Yo Rodriguez that he was now on board with her view of changing the timeline for the better, having witnessed what Wilfred Malick had become because he chose to spare his life.[1]
