In 1955, Hotel Roosevelt experienced a stormy night. Daniel Sousa arrived at the hotel and sat in the lobby, waiting for the concierge to signal him. A HYDRA agent began following him, and Sousa delivered the item to the concierge. The agent shot Sousa, ultimately leading to his death. The police arrived at the hotel while the concierge delivered the item to Howard Stark.[1]

In an alternate timeline, Daniel Sousa arrived at Hotel Roosevelt containing a device on which a majority of S.H.I.E.L.D. technology was based. He sat in the lobby and waited for the concierge to give him a signal. He did, and Joe began following him. He delivered the device to the concierge after avoiding Joe. He then found Alphonso Mackenzie and Phil Coulson, who shot him with an I.C.E.R. Coulson then put on his jacket and let Joe shoot him, falling into the hotel pool. The LAPD later arrived, and Coulson was taken to Zephyr One by Jemma Simmons and Daisy Johnson, disguised as nurses.[1]
