The Heart Stopper is a weapon developed by Cybertek as part of Project Deathlok, capable of inducing a heart attack in its target, and also restoring their heart to its normal beat.

Since Skye had repeatedly refused to give the specific location to unlock the Hard Drive containing all of the research developed by Coulson's Team that was needed, Deathlok was then ordered by John Garrett to instead attack Grant Ward using the Heart Stopper stored in the lower part of his Forearm Rocket Launcher, as he spun around and fired the device at Ward, who was utterly shocked by what Deathlok had done, as his heart immediately stopped beating and he dropped to the floor, desperately gasping for air.

Seeing this, Skye was horrified as she had questioned what Deathlok had done to Ward, to which he had explained that Ward was going into cardiac arrest, and Skye would be forced to watch him die, if she refused to give up the information. Since Skye did not want to be a direct cause of Ward's slow and painful death, despite him being a murderer, she confessed that Deathlok simply needed to fly the Bus higher to unlock the Hard Drive, as Deathlok then restarted Ward's heart, and then caused another electrical discharge that helped Ward to overcome the effects of the device.[1]
