The Grappling Claws were used by the True Believers on the destroyed Earth to defend themselves from the Vrellnexians. Deke Shaw used the Grappling Claw to save Daisy Johnson from Sinara.
History[]
Rescue of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents[]
As Melinda May and Enoch were on the verge of being taken by a gravity storm on the surface of the destroyed Earth, a pair of True Believers, including Samuel Voss, rescued them with Grappling Claws, thus preventing them from being killed by the storm. Thanks to the claws, the True Believers were able to bring May and Enoch back to the remnants of the Zephyr One.[1]
Later on, another team of True Believers equipped themselves with Grappling Claws to go and find the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who had arrived onto the surface thanks to the Trawler.[2]
Ambush on Quake[]
Once they retook control of the Zephyr One over the True Believers who had betrayed them, S.H.I.E.L.D. sent the True Believers out of the Zephyr One to take refuge in the caves. In order to face potential gravity storms, the True Believers packed some Grappling Claws which they took with them. Some Grappling Claws were however left in the Zephyr One.
Sinara is restrained by a Grappling Claw
Later, Sinara infiltrated the Zephyr One and ambushed Daisy Johnson, who engaged in a duel with her. Deke Shaw witnessed the fight from afar and decided to assist Johnson. Despite the Zephyr One being heavily shaken while being taken into space, Shaw managed to retrieve a suitcase containing Grappling Claws. Shaw used a Claw to restrain Sinara as she was on the verge of striking Johnson with her crescent knife. Although Sinara quickly got rid of both the claw and Shaw, the distraction was enough for Johnson to gain the upper hand and eventually kill Sinara.[3]
