The Escape from the Industrial Garments & Handling Facility was a successful attempt by Alisa Jones to escape from IGH in order to find and reunite with her daughter.

Background[]

Alisa and Brian Jones decided to take a family trip to Florida with their children Jessica and Phillip, taking an advice from a marriage counselor. However, ended up crashing into a GT Agrochemical truck, resulting in Brian and Phillip dying instantly. Alisa and Jessica in a critical state, with Alisa being also severely disfigured, but they managed to survive. They were taken to IGH, as Karl Malus conducted a series of illegal experiments on both of them and manage to bring back both women to life, although they developed enhanced abilities due to a genetic mutation. When Alisa woke up at Industrial Garments & Handling Facility, she saw her disfigured face in reflection, which sent her into a state of panic and she tried to escape. Pushing through the IGH staff, Alisa unknowingly attacked Jessica who also woke up recently, but Malus was able to sedate her before anything serious happened.

Malus continued working on both women and while Jessica recovered sooner due to relatively light injuries, Alisa was still unstable and required further treatment. IGH declared Alisa to be legally dead and kept her in to keep working on her, while Jessica was adoted by Dorothy Walker, believing her whole family to be dead. Alisa became increasingly frustrated due to never-ending tests but Malus insisted that due to her emotional instability, Alisa still posed danger to those around her. As she demanded to know where Jessica was, Malus conceded and told Alisa that Jessica was adopted, and she initially took well to news that her daughter had a home. However, Malus then confessed that Jessica believes her to be dead, which sent Alisa into a fit of rage, causing Malus to sedate her once again.^[1]

Escape[]

Alisa Jones was restrained to her bed and IGH kept giving her sedative pills to keep her stable, however, Alisa was determined to get out and avoided taking the pills, hiding them in her socks. When Inez Green and Luanne McClure went to check on her, Green removed her restraints to change her clothes, assuming that Alisa was unconscious. Once her arm was free, Alisa quickly woke up and threw Green into a glass closet, causing her serious back injury, as McClure discovered that Alisa was not taking her pills too late. Alisa then attacked McClure and demanded her to tell where Jessica Jones were, and she confessed that she was with Trish Walker's family. Alisa then killed McClure by snapping her neck and ran away from the clinic, leaving her body and an injured Green behind.^[1]

Aftermath[]

Escaping to New York City, Alisa Jones approached Dorothy Walker and introduced herself as Jessica Jones' former math teacher who wanted to check in on her and extend her condolences. Walker explained that she had no contact with Jessica for a while and since she adopted her, Jessica never showed Walker any respect or gratitude. Walker then mentioned her relationship with her own daughter, and as Alisa encouraged her to be a mother her daughter needed, Walker decided to try calling her and ask where could they find Jessica. With Walker's help, Alisa was able to find the apartment where Jessica lived with Stirling Adams and saw her daughter walking out.

She followed Jessica to a bar where she met with Adams, which made her think that she would be better off keeping her distance. When Jessica went to a bathroom, Alisa noticed that she had a problem and helped Jessica by giving her a tampon, without revealing that she was her mother. On her way back to the bar, Alisa suddenly saw Adams being harassed by Wyatt and his men, so she stayed close to see what was happening. She listened to Wyatt asking Adams to manipulate Jessica and make use of her powers, to which Adams gladly agreed for a cut of profits, which infuriated Alisa. When Wyatt and others left, Alisa confronted Adams and told him that he cannot use Jessica and get away with it, although Adams claimed that she was only lying to get Wyatt off his back.

Alisa did not believe Adams and proceeded to repeatedly smash his head against the wall, until his skull cracked and he died. She then rushed to retreat from the scene before Adams' body was found by Jessica, who was devastated to see her boyfriend dead and cried over his body, which made Alisa realized that Malus was right and she cannot be with Jessica at the moment. Alisa returned to IGH and met Malus, telling him that she is a danger to her own daughter, and Malus promised to fix everything for her, as she stayed at IGH.^[1] To protect Alisa, Malus framed David Kawecki for the murder of Luanne McClure and had him administered to Birch Psychiatric Hospital,^[2] while Inez Green quit IGH due to her fear of Alisa.^[3]
