When he enters the building, Moon Knight quickly discovers that the place is rigged with numerous booby traps. He eventually challenges the manor's owner, The Shroud, to face him in open combat, which Moon Kight eventually wins. The Shroud reveals that his role as a criminal is an elaborate ruse to assist him to destroy the criminal underworld from the inside out. Furthermore, the entire ordeal at the manor was a test which Moon Knight passed as The Shroud is looking for someone to replace him as leader of the Night Shift. Moon Knight is surprised to see that Russell is himself a member of the team, but ultimately turns down the offer of leadership, preferring to stick with the Avengers.
