The Kurtz 31 Patrol Boat is an armed patrol boat featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of The Cayo Perico Heist update.
Influence[]
The boat is evidently based on the Vietnam War era Mark I Patrol Boat, Riverine (PBR), sharing the distinctively bulky hull, roof and radar dome, although the latter is mounted on the rear of the cabin.
Design[]
The vehicle features a large rigid hull with an elevated cabin compartment on the middle section, metal frames supporting a large roof and an open back for access, along with two metal walls on the aft section. Numerous lifebuoys can be seen around the cabin area, as well as a tall radar dome behind with a US flag attached to it. The boat is fitted with small lights on the sides of the cabin compartment and on the stern that illuminate when the lights are on, along with two large front-facing spotlights beside the cabin compartment that work when switching to high-beam lights. The bridge of the boat is mostly traditional with a worn/metal appearance and uses "Truck" analog dials like most boats, while the right section has a fire extinguisher and what looks like an access door leading to the cabin area, mostly covered by a tarpaulin.
The vehicle is usually seen with a worn appearance and a shark teeth pinup on the bow. It is set to spawn in a dark green primary color applied on the upper half of the hull, as well as a dark red secondary color on the lower half of the hull.
The boat is armed with twin machine guns mounted on a front rotating tub and a single shielded machine gun turret on the aft section, all of them resembling Browning M2HB .50 caliber machine guns.

Performance[]
Vehicle[]
The boat has limited performance and handling due to its large body and heavy weight, being faster than most vehicles like the Marquis and the Tug, but inferior to most boats such as the Police Predator and the Suntrap. While the vehicle has moderate protection against bullets, it lacks armor, being vulnerable to explosives in general.
The vehicle is powered by two inboard engines, also using what seems to be Pump-jet drives.
Weaponry[]
The Patrol Boat is equipped with two turrets that are operated by two independent gunners and require manual access, as there is no option to switch seats.
- Dual MG: Its front armament is a dual machine gun turret that operates in a similar way to the primary weapon/rear turret of the Mogul, having a rotation angle of about 230 degrees and an elevation range of -10 and 30 degrees. It has similar statistics to the Mogul's dual machine gun option, having decent firepower against most unarmored vehicles, but remains a weak option against armored vehicles.
- Machine Gun: Its rear armament is a single machine gun similar to the rear turret of the Tula and the Barrage, having a limited rotation angle of about 140 degrees and an elevation range of -10 and 30 degrees. It has similar statistics to the stock weapon of the aforementioned vehicles, having decent firepower against most unarmored vehicles, but remains a weak option against armored vehicles.

Trivia[]
General[]
- The name "Kurtz" is likely a reference to Colonel Kurtz, a fictional character from the 1979 film Apocalypse Now. In the same movie, the real-life inspiration of the Patrol Boat appears as a prominent vehicle used by the protagonists.
- The "31" in the name may refer to the length of the Mark 1 PBR of 31 feet.
- The emblems on the sides are identical to the ones seen in selected liveries of the P-45 Nokota, the Mogul and the RM-10 Bombushka.
Oversights[]
- Repeatedly hooking the Kurtz 31 with the Cargobob will cause it to progessively distance itself from the hook, making it appear like it is levitating under the aircraft. However, abusing the glitch will cause the Kurtz to violently spasm and damage the Cargobob in the process.
