Wizard (ウィザード, Wizādo?) is a recurring enemy in the Final Fantasy series. It is a spellcaster with access to high-level magic.

Final Fantasy II[]
The Wizard is an enemy encountered in the Coliseum, Fynn Castle, the Cyclone, and Castle Palamecia. It is capable of casting a wide array of powerful spells. Wizards may drop various high-level magical Tomes when defeated, the most valued of them being the Flare Tome. In the 20th Anniversary release, the player can easily encounter Wizards by using the keyword "Cyclone" in the Arcane Labyrinth, creating the floor according to the appearance of the Cyclone complete with enemy encounters.
Final Fantasy VI[]
The Wizard is an enemy fought in the Narshe Mines and Cliffs. They can be a nuisance as they use a variety of status spells to cripple the party, and otherwise drain their MP with Rasp and Osmose. If struck by magic, they have a chance to counter with Fallen Footsteps, which inflicts Zombie.
Final Fantasy Adventure[]
The Wizard is an enemy encountered in the Cara Mountain Range, Dime Tower, Glaive Castle, and the Undersea Volcano. Its appearance is based on the Magus job.

The Wizard appears as an enemy encountered in the Kol Badlands, Wolfsfang Peak, Chamber of Awakening, Chamber of Creation, Chamber of Riches, Chamber of Experience, and Colosseum, as well as during the "Memories from the Battlefield" event. In addition, the Wizard from Final Fantasy VI appears during the "Narshe" event, though its sprite is instead based on the Final Fantasy II Wizard.

Tolkien, whose Wizards of Middle-earth are a group of beings outwardly resembling Men but possessing much greater physical and mental power.
