Hammer Bros. (Known as Hermano Martillo in Spanish) are a Koopa-like species found in the Mario universe. They are common enemies that wear helmets and throw hammers at anyone who approaches him (as seen in Super Mario World). They are fairly aggressive and only take orders from Bowser. There are different types of Hammer Bros. called Ice Bros. and Fire Bros. There also exists a blue version of Hammer Bro. named Blue Hammer Bro., who acts similar to Hammer Bro., except his gear is blue, just like Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro..

Hammer Bro is a playable character in the Koopa Kart series in every game, being one of seven characters to appear in every game (the other six being Bowser, Dry Bones, Koopa Troopa, Goomba, Monty Mole, and Paratroopa). He is a heavyweight driver in the first four games, while he is a middleweight starting from Koopa Kart DS. In Koopa Kart: Double Trouble!!, his partner is Dry Bones, and their Special Item is the Blue Shell.
New Super Mario Bros.: Revenge of the Bros.[]
In New Super Mario Bros.: Revenge of the Bros., Hammer Bros. once again appear as an enemy alongside various other variations of them. They appear as the common footsoldiers of King Bro. and Kingdom Bro. (the main antagonists of the game), their behavior is the same as it usually is, however some Hammer Bros. in this game can toss 5 hammers at once.

Hammer Bro. appears for the first time in Mario Tennis Ultimate (Deluxe) as a playable character, Appearing as an All-Around Type character. He brings his Sledgehammer that can he use it for it's weapon during in match. But mostly… he can prevently block the ball for opponent's shots with increase of critical project. His Special Shot is “ Hammer Chime” summon with four colorful timpani’s while playing and smashed the ball to the opponent’s court, and his Special Ability is “Sledgehammer Storm” pulls out with several of hammers in varying arc that knocked the opponents. His emblem is his head a left side with the helmet under it, And his theme is Drum & Bass.
