Synopsis for "Past Saving"

As all hell broke loose on Earth, Martian Manhunter recalled his life leading up to that point, beginning with his family and race dying of H'ronmeer's Curse. After his family's death, he was brought to Earth by a beam of light, to the laboratory of Dr. Erdel. During his time on Earth, he used his shapeshifting powers to assume the identities of its inhabitants and joined multiple incarnations of the Justice League. Ma'alefa'ak, who called himself Malefic, followed him to Earth, framed him, and nearly killed him.

Gypsy contacted him and asked for his help at their former H.Q. in Detroit. Martian Manhunter asked Platic Man to assume monitor duty while the former visited Gypsy. The two heroes encountered the reanimated corpses of Vibe, Steel, Crimson Fox, and Ice, the "Justice League of the Damned", who seemingly killed Gypsy. Martian Manhunter fled from his former teammates with Gypsy's corpse and followed a tunnel to an area that resembled Mars. There, he also encountered his ancestors, who claimed that he had forgotten them. After they disappeared, H'ronmeer appeared before him and asked the Martian to give Gypsy to him. Martian Manhunter handed Gypsy to his god before appearing in front of his dead former teammates, who attacked him before he restored their memories.

His teammates burst into flames as a result before Vibe thanked him for "saving them one last time" and the former and Gypsy walked out of the sewers. After they exited the sewers, Gypsy described her near-death experience and Martian Manhunter told her that if she did not return, he would miss her.
