- The interior of the toy store Cricket, Tilly and Nancy visit is somewhat similar to real-world toy shop company Hamleys.
- In addition the two bears dressed like London guards allude to the entrances of Hamleys stores.
- Tilly acting hyper and laughing hysterically after eating some cotton candy, in addition to her line "I am the animal queen!", is very similar to Lisa's "I'm the lizard queen!" after accidentally ingesting a small drop of Duff in The Simpsons episode "Selma's Choice".
- It is also similar to Beavis acting hyper and crazy and declaring himself to be "Cornholio" (his alter-ego) after consuming large amounts of sugar and/or caffeine in the MTV animated series Beavis and Butt-head.
- The scene where one of the background characters sees monkeys on the plane wing, but no one believing him might be a reference to The Twilight Zone's "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet", one of the most well-known episodes of the classic Zone.
- The scene where Cricket and Tilly release all of the animals is similar to a scene in the Curious George episode "Zoo Night".
- It is also referenced in The Casagrandes season 2 episode "Zoo-mergency!", though in a more direct way where the animals are seen causing trouble in a city environment (Big City/Great Lakes City). In addition, in the latter episode, the animals have to be brought back to the zoo by the main characters through one way or another.
- The Zoo animals running loose in the city is a reference to the Jungle animals rampaging Brantford from the 1995 movie, Jumanji.
