- The title is a parody of the 1979 movie Apocalypse Now.
- The plot of Chip taking over Elkins Street is similar to the Gravity Falls season one finale "Gideon Rises", which is a continuation of "Dreamscaperers", when Gideon Gleeful takes over the Mystery Shack.
- Chip getting launched far away from Big City into the sky is similar to how Team Rocket is defeated on Pokémon.
- Cricket, Tilly and Gramma laughing while Cricket writes "Happy Butt-Day" on a cake is similar to Beavis and Butt-head laughing while using inappropriate words when vandalizing property in Beavis and Butt-head.
- The operating system on Chip's computer bears a uncanny resemblance to an iMac computer.
- The group of chickens attacking one of the driller could be a reference to the Cucco's Revenge Squad from The Legend of Zelda. It's probably even referenced by the driller saying "AVENGE US, BROTHERS!!!"
- Chip angrily trying to take down the Greens just before getting slung away is similar to Who Framed Roger Rabbit when Judge Doom tries to take down Eddie Valliant. Chip's eyes turn into red and white spirals like how Judge Doom's do, and like Cruella de Vil's eyes from 101 Dalmatians.
- Chip trying to kill Cricket with his helicopter before Cricket jumps off the roof is also similar to Trumper killing the flock in the 2015 movie adaptation of the Shaun the Sheep franchise.
- The plot of this episode, Chip replacing the previous Big Coffee space, the Elkins Apartment, and the Greens' house with the planned Wholesome Foods Mega-Store and thus driving them out of Big City is similar to the plot of the 2002 theatrical adaption of the Nicktoon Hey Arnold!, Hey Arnold!: The Movie, which involves a rich businessman named Alphonse Perrier du von Scheck replacing Hillwood, where the series' protagonist, Arnold Shortman, his family, his friends, and his acquaintances live, with a planned mallplex.
- Chip and Alphonse also share some similarities: both were the CEOs of their company, are both wealthy and are the main antagonists.
- The antagonists also share similar fates; Chip is banned from Big City and Alphonse gets arrested, and both lose their positions as CEOs of their respective companies.
