- The episode title is a portmanteau of "dessert" and "deserted".
- The songs that Crispy's waiters sings, are sung to the tune of the song "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" by Bill Hayes.
- The song was also parodied as "Lisa Is So Stupid" sung by Bart Simpson in The Simpsons episode "I'm Just a Girl Who Can't Say D'oh".
- The "Crispy's Sundae Challenge" is a parody of restaurant food challenges. (Giant Steak Challenge, Every Item on the Menu Challenge etc.)
- Crispy's is a 5-way mix of Chili's, TGI Fridays, Johnny Rockets, Red Robin and Quaker Steak & Lube.
- The plot of Cricket's plan to have the family eat a large sundae in order to get their meals for free is similar to Disney's Shake It Up in the episode "Meatball It Up", where Rocky and Cece had to eat a ten pound meatball in order for them and their friends' meals to be free.
