– George Washington.[1] |
George Washington is a character who first appeared in A New Dawn. He is also a historical figure in American history. He was seen several times in the franchise as a sculpture at Mt. Rushmore.
Appearance[]
George wore a Plumber-like outfit two years before the American Revolutionary War and the time before he became a famous historical figure.
Personality[]
George is a dedicated individual, helping out those in need. He is able to take in and accept knowledge and discoveries that are radically new for his time (such as aliens and time travel) and integrate it into his Plumbier duties to protect people and fight off unearthly threats. He got confused when Ben and Rook inadvertently told him some instances of knowledge of the future (like the war for independence or him being president). George is also anti-xenophobic for a person who has not encountered any aliens before 1773, refusing to attack or engage aliens or non-human creatures before they've proven themselves to be hostile.
History[]
Background[]
Alongside Benjamin Franklin[DJW 1], George founded the Earth Plumbers in the 1770's.[pop-up 1][2] The organization was called Plumbiers, the French word for "ironworkers".[1]
1773[]
Three years later, in 1773, George was already exercising his duties as a Plumbier: stopping paranormal activities, such as zombies and derivatives, on his planet. One night he hunted, as he went ordered, a snake whose soul was trapped in a state of death ("like a zombie"), when he ran into Ben Tennyson and Rook Blonko. On Ben Tennyson's watch, there was also a Slime-Biot called Skurd. Although George Washington found them strange, even pointing a gun at the pair, they convinced him that they had no bad intentions and were not monsters.
Ben was impressed to see George and said he was from the future. He asked to see him smile and was surprised when he realized that Washington had no wooden teeth. Suddenly, hearing a strange sound, the iron worker aimed his musket in the opposite direction, at a zombie. However, upon noticing a specter behind him, George shifted his attention, turning his guard back. Rook explained to him that it was an extraterrestrial transformation of Ben, Ghostfreak.
Ghostfreak opened his cloak and released tentacles from it in an attempt to hold the zombie, but still cried out for help. Seeing the situation, the Plumbier rushed and reversed, with a potion, the effects of the curse that had turned the man into a zombie. The man, in this case, was a soldier in the service of the Crown of England. Though he spoke to the soldier, who had thanked Washington, George had been unable to prevent the boy from fleeing, frightened by the spectral form of Ben's alien.
Soon, in a dialogue, George Washington learned of the existence of a future war in which he would rebel against the English king. At that, the Chimeran Hammer crossed the sky and caught the attention of Ben and Rook, who began to walk along with the Plumbier for a few meters. Spotting the enemies, Tennyson crouched down on a rock, followed by the others, and introduced the Plumber to the time traveler Maltruant and, shortly thereafter, the intergalactic conqueror Vilgax. George doubted they posed a threat, but his thinking quickly changed when a pair of Vilgax's bioids tried to shoot him in the head.
Bravely, the hero came forward and single-handedly fought the two robots, defeating them and setting out to take down Vilgax himself. Nevertheless, as he confronted Washington, Vilgax had to shift his attention away from the Plumbier to fight Ben Tennyson, who affronted him with XLR8, and George then lurked and watched. Realizing Maltruant's temporal standstill, George fired three shots with his gun, in which everyone was frozen in time. When the weather returned to normal, Washington inserted two axes into the barrel of his gun and threw them so that they would split the Chimeran ship in half.
During Ben Tennyson and Rook Blonko's departure on a spaceship, Ben accidentally called George "Mr. President".
Two years later, in 1775, he would participate in the US War of Independence, which may have been important to his withdrawal from the secret society. After the war, George was elected president in 1789 and remained for two terms. He died on December 14, 1799.
Powers and Abilities[]
George displays no supernatural powers, but he is a skilled combatant, able to take on several of Vilgax's bioids single-handedly.
Equipment[]
George's signature Plumbier weapon is a musket that's been modified to fire beam energy and channel electrical currents from lightning using a rocket-launched kite provided by Dr. Benjamin Franklin.
Weaknesses[]
George wouldn't attack any potential enemies until they show a sign they are dangerous to human lives.

Trivia[]
- The crew wanted to show the Earthly origins of the Plumbers fighting the supernatural, which was the original idea for the Plumbers before first alien contact. Washington was originally going to be traveling with Ezekiel Saturday from the Saturday family, but that idea was nixed due to time constraint.[DJW 2]
- Despite being introduced in the series finale, George Washington was one of the first characters Derrick J. Wyatt drew for the show.[DJW 3]
