“ | Trust me, you're gonna want to go Ben. Thanks for making me realize that. | ” |
Benjamin "Ben" Kirby Tennyson, nicknamed Ben 10,000, is one of Ben Tennyson's futures from an alternate timeline in which he is a full-time superhero.[note 1][note 2] Ben 10,000's nickname comes from the fact that Ben now has access to at least 10,000 alien forms.
Appearance[]
Ben 10,000 has a tall, muscular build, which is due to the various adventures he has experienced that have left him in shape.[DR 1] He is 6'3".[TP 1] He wears a customized skintight outfit and sports a full beard.
In Ben 10,000, his outfit consisted of a round-neck short-sleeved bicep-length black t-shirt tucked in his tight army green slim-fit pants pulled up to his waist. His shirt had a white stripe around his neck and on the front, and a matching one-inch trim on the sleeves. He also wore a black belt, with matching fingerless gloves and calf-high boots.
In Ken 10, his hair is more tousled, now sporting a goatee, and his hair is graphite at the back and bottom sides of his head. He wears a skintight version of his outfit when he was 10. He wears a round-neck short-sleeved bicep-length white T-shirt tucked in his tight army green slim-fit pants pulled up to his waist. His shirt has a black stripe around his neck and on the front and matching one-inch trim on the sleeves. He also wears a black belt, with matching fingerless gloves and calf-high boots. In addition to wearing his classic look, his belt has pouches.
Personality[]
When he is introduced, Ben 10,000 was portrayed as being serious about the hero business to the point where it was almost obsessive. He spent most of his time as XLR8 to patrol the planet[pop-up 4][1] and brutalized criminals as quickly as he could, while rarely appearing in human form. He had also stopped naming his aliens, which Ben Prime considers "half the fun" of using them. Ben stayed this serious for fifteen years until Gwendolyn brought Ben Prime to talk to him.
After taking on Vilgax alongside Ben Prime, Ben 10,000 started to lighten up in time for Max's 80th birthday. Over the following twelve years, he changed his clothing to something akin to his youth, returned to naming his aliens again, and spent quality time with his son. Furthermore, he and Gwendolyn rely on each other now since their relationship has grown.[pop-up 5][3]
While he tries to be close with his son, Ben 10,000 can doubt his abilities as a parent and become over-protective due to the various dangers of crimefighting. He can also be somewhat obtuse, not realizing where his son got his attitude from and grasping the obvious to Max's annoyance.[3]
Despite his change to a more light-hearted and relaxed person, Ben 10,000 has a ferocious temper that returns him to his more aggressive and grimmer personage he displayed up until his thirties. The best example of this is when he transformed into Way Big and viciously pounded Kevin 11,000 into the ground for attacking Ken.[3]
History[]
Background[]
Ben 10,000 had stayed cocky and happy until he was 15.[pop-up 2][1] It remains unclear on the details about what happened that caused this change, but it caused him to become strict, cynical, and distant from his family for 15 years. During this period, he mutilated Vilgax and put away his remains in a stasis pod in Fort DNA-X to make sure he could no longer harm anyone.
Over the years, Ben began to have more practice with his aliens, and also improving them with nanotechnology.[pop-up 6][1] As well as unlocking 10,000 aliens due to his age,[pop-up 7][1] which would lead him to call himself "Ben 10,000". Soon he also would earn the title of "hero of heroes".
Ben 10[]
Ben 10,000 first appeared in his self-titled episode, where after detecting a conflict in Omnitrix City caused by Exo-Skull, Ben 10,000 as XLR8 goes to the scene and stops him from attacking Ben and Gwen from the Prime Timeline, beating him and breaking his horn. XLR8 analyzes the villain and suggests it could be the work of Dr. Animo. He also realizes that his counterpart was there with his cousin, and orders Gwendolyn to take them back to the past.
Young Ben recognizes him as a future version of himself and is amazed to learn that he has a Headquarters and asks how to unlock the 9,990 aliens he doesn't have. However, Ben 10,000 is arrogant and ignorantly responds that he would never reveal it and continues to patrol the planet. Ben 10,000 then goes to sector "15-D" of Fort DNA-X, which was being attacked by Dr. Animo. Ben 10,000 fights him as Four Arms and ends up being hindered by young Ben as Stinkfly, who has his stinger trapped by Four Arms who returns to the battle. Ben 10,000 can easily defeat Dr. Animo and soon after, the Galactic Enforces arrive at the scene and mock Ben for not letting them beat Dr. Animal. Ben 10,000 turns into XLR8 and says that they would lose if the battle were with them, as well as asking them to trap Animal in the Null Void.
Ben 10,000 grabs young Ben and Gwen and takes them to his headquarters. Upon arriving at the headquarters, young Ben ends up arguing with Ben 10,000 about how he would stop being a hero at that rate, until an alarm goes off reporting an invasion in the "1-A Center" sector. Young Ben asks what was going on but XLR8 replies that he didn't know, but it was just his problem.
Ben 10,000 arrives at the site of the invasion, which reveals itself to be the place where the Null Void Chamber is located. He prepares to face Animo again, but is soon interrupted by Vilgax, who immediately rushes to attack him. Ben 10,000 finds himself at a disadvantage during the fight, but is soon, however reluctantly, helped by young Ben as Upgrade. The two Bens together begin to fight Vilgax, but their efforts did not work.
In the middle of the fight, Ben says that Vilgax may even know how his aliens fight, but does he know what Ben is capable of, and argues that he hopes that after so long, Ben 10,000 hasn't forgotten what it's like to be a true hero. Then Four Arms transforms back into Ben 10,000, and says it was time to start fighting like young Ben. Ben 10,000 holds a hoverboard and transforms the young man from Cannonbolt into Diamondhead. With just a Hoverboard, Ben 10,000 manages to destabilize Vilgax, and then uses Spitter to push Vilgax into place, which he would freeze like Arctiguana.
Later, Ben 10,000 along with Gwendolyn and the young Ben and Gwen celebrate Max's 80th birthday. Gwendolyn opens the portal for the young people to return to their time, but young Ben asks Ben 10,000 the secrets of the Omnitrix, and also how not to be "Ben" again. Ben 10,000 says that he will want to be "Ben" again, and thanks him for making him understand in addition to handing him a cube that later turns out to be a simple cake for Max, who should have delivered it 20 years ago. Ben 10,000, Gwendolyn and Max say goodbye to the young people with a brief smile.
After his encounter with his younger self, Ben 10,000 began to change his attitude, becoming closer to his family, especially Gwendolyn.[pop-up 5][3] Furthermore, he also married his childhood love interest, Kai Green, and with her he had two children, Ken and Gwen.[pop-up 1][1][pop-up 8][10] In preparation for his son's 10th birthday, Ben used his smartest aliens to create a replica Omnitrix[pop-up 9][3] that behaves much like the first one he wore in his youth.
In Ken 10, Ben 10,000 defeated Vulkanus just in time to attend Ken's birthday and gave him his own Omnitrix. An alarm soon rings and Ben 10,000 along with Ken go to fight Sploot and Mot Snikrep, both being defeated only by Ben 10,000.
Back at headquarters, Max asks how the pair's day was, and Ben responds that they had won, however, Ken responds that he was left out of the action. Ben comments that having an Omnitrix didn't make him a hero, says that Ken's duty was to observe, learn and only then enter battle safely. Arrogantly, Ken grabs his hoverboard and goes for a ride, leaving Ben thoughtful. In the middle of the night, the General Headquarters was being invaded. Ben tells Ken they will take care of the invader together. However the intruder was supposedly Kevin, leaving Ben surprised and initiating the emergency lockdown. Ben 10,000 becomes Four Arms and orders Kenny to go to his room against his will, despite saying they would stop the invader together as Kevin was unpredictable.
The two soon face each other, and the supposed Kevin reveals that he is there by the Null Void Chamber, but Ben reveals that he moved it. Before Ben has the chance to trap Kevin in a Containment Egg, Ken appears trapped in the air vent, giving Kevin an opening to escape. Ben 10,000 transforms into Snare-Oh, who pulls Ken out of the air vent. With a disapproving look, Ben 10,000 is questioned by Ken, who complains about his father's lack of faith and trust.
Later, in a conversation with Gwendolyn, Ben says he thinks Ken wants to become a hero, but Gwendolyn thinks he is seeing the situation from the wrong angle, saying that all parents have problems letting their children grow up and emphasizes Ben, as being living proof that children have to make mistakes. Gwendolyn also advises Ben to give Ken a chance, so he would gain her trust.
An alarm goes off from the room that the Null Void Chamber is contained in. Ben 10,000 becomes XLR8 and goes to the location, finding Kenny and Max tied up there. He is suddenly attacked by "Kevin", however, he quickly dodges. Ben becomes Four Arms and jokes that the attempted attack was "silly". However, he is amazed to find the real Kevin, who had been released from the Null Void by "Kevin", who was actually his son, Devlin. Kevin explains that while he was trapped there, he could absorb the powers of all the aliens that Ben trapped there and then transforms into Kevin 11,000.
They then begin to fight, Kevin 11,000 has the advantage in the fight and immobilizes Ben as Diamondhead by using an Loboan's sonic howl. However, after falling unconscious, Ken and Devlin try to fight Kevin and almost lose. Upon seeing his son fallen, Ben became furious and transformed into Way Big, suddenly crushing him.
After venting his anger, Ben runs to help Ken, who says he's fine, as well as delivering a Confinement Egg. Kevin reacts and retaliates by pushing father and son away, but the egg remains on the ground, causing Kevin to then be sucked into the object pushed by Devlin. Ben 10,000 congratulates Ken on his work, and his son asks if he could use the 10,000 aliens from the Omnitrix, making Ben proud despite saying that Ken could only be dreaming. At the end of the battle, Ben and Max decide to invite Devlin to join their family, since he no longer has a father to guide him, which he accepts.
Powers and Abilities[]
Ben 10,000 is highly acrobatic, able to execute a backward somersault off a hoverboard in mid-air.[1]
Ben 10,000 has enhanced reflexes, allowing him to dodge attacks with ease.[1]
When presented with a problem, Ben 10,000 presents a quick and logical response to it. His intelligence is most evident by his creation of Ken's Omnitrix via the collaboration of multiple intelligent transformations.[pop-up 9][3] His sharp mind allows him to take advantage of most situations and turn the tide in his favor.
Equipment[]
Ben 10,000 can transform into any of his aliens at will, due to having unlocked the Master Control. As Ben got older, the Omnitrix also transformed, thereby giving him more control and access to more aliens.[pop-up 7][1] Ben 10,000 has mastered his alien forms and is capable of using their powers to their fullest potential. This is thanks to both years of practice and Ben enhancing each of his aliens with nanotech.[pop-up 6][1] As such, the aliens themselves have changed, with their appearances being different and their abilities being at greater levels.
Ben 10,000 carries Null Void Containment Eggs to imprison his enemies.[3]
Ben 10,000 owned a hoverboard, which was destroyed by Vilgax.[1]
Weaknesses[]
Prior to meeting his Prime Timeline counterpart, Ben 10,000 would use a repeated method over several years, and as such, anyone who has knowledge of his tactics such as Vilgax would easily overcome him until Ben 10,000 began using juvenile antics.
Much like any version of Ben, Ben 10,000 is unable to take on any stronger enemies without the help of the Omnitrix and he can be a bit of a hothead.
Relationships[]
Family[]
Gwendolyn Tennyson[]
Gwendolyn and Ben rely on each other since their relationship has grown in the twelve years following their team-up with present Ben and Gwen.[pop-up 5][3]

Notes[]
- ↑ The Omniverse crew brought back the Ben 10,000 from the Original Series instead of working on a new one like in Ultimate Alien.[DJW 1][DJW 2][DJW 3][DJW 4][DJW 5][DJW 6][DJW 7][DJW 8]
- He is from further in the future, after having learnt the lessons from his encounter with his 10 year old self[DJW 8] and lightened up.[DJW 9]
- This is due to:
- The executives' push for having everything more like the Original Series, which was the most successful of the franchise.[DJW 6]
- The crew's preference of the original Ben 10,000[DJW 5] over the Ultimate Alien portrayal.[DJW 7][DJW 10]
- Derrick J. Wyatt made several further statements to corroborate this, expanding on what was known from the Original Series, such as the backstories for the Biomnitrix and Kevin Levin invoking the plotlines of Ben 10,000[DJW 9] and Ken 10[DJW 11] respectively, the defining tragedy in Ben 10,000's life having now occurred at the age of 20,[DJW 12] "shifted" from the original age of 15,[pop-up 2][1] etc.
- The writing of the show also explicitly called this out, such as when Ben identified the future Dr. Animo in Animo Crackers as the same person who he encountered in Ben 10,000,[4] and other efforts were made throughout the last few seasons to align the story with the original future timeline, in terms of character designs, set designs and plot lines.
- ↑ Ben 10,000 is stated to be Ben Prime's true future self.[DJW 4][DJW 13]
- This is evidenced in-show in Omniverse by the fact that both the Ben 10,000[5][6] and the future Dr. Animo[4] recalled characters and events from the present day. Chrono-Spanner also frequently visits present day with effects of his actions manifest in his present.[7] This would not be possible if these characters belonged to an alternate timeline.
- It was pointed out by fans that this created a plot hole with the Original Series, as Ben 10,000 was from an alternate timeline[8][9][pop-up 3][3] in which he never travelled to the future when he was 10, and consequently did not give Max a cake on his 60th birthday, while Ben Prime did.[1] Thus, Ben 10,000 did not recall the events of the episode from his younger self's perspective.[9][DM 1][DM 2][DM 3]
- Derrick responded to the matter by saying: "Your 'plot holes' are irrelevant. Time isn't completely fixed, it's shifting. Events can be subtly altered. But Ben 10,000 is the future for the Ben Prime timeline."[DJW 4]
- He further explained that future is always in flux,[DJW 14] and is constantly affected by current events, especially by the meddling of the present by time-travellers.[DJW 13] This was also showcased in Ben 10,000. Thus, Ben 10,000, ie, Ben's current true future will always be changing, depending on the future writers of the show.
