The Freaky Monkey Five, known in Japan as the Ukki Five (ウッã‚ーファイブ), are a group of henchmen working for Specter. They are an elite team of Monkeys whose abilities were boosted from a strict diet of Vita-Z Bananas. Much like Specter, they are much smarter than an average monkey, capable of speaking human language, and they wear modified Peak Point Helmets. They first appeared in Ape Escape 2.
Ape Escape 2[]
Specter reveals how he fed Vita-Z Bananas to a group of monkeys, and throughout the game Jimmy encounters them. Before his fight with White Monkey, Pipotchi is kidnapped in order to transfer his data from the Peak Point helmet into a device called the Lethargy Laser. Jimmy catches them all except for Yellow Monkey, who escapes.
Sometime after Pipotchi's rescue, Jimmy confronts Specter. Before the two of them can battle, Yellow Monkey reappears as a giant monster due to overdosing on Vita-Z Bananas and attacks the base. Specter flees while Jimmy is forced to downsize and capture Yellow.
Ape Escape 3[]
The captures go well, until Pink Monkey runs away before she can be captured. After Red Monkey is caught, the group isn't seen until Specter's capture.
After the credits roll and the player loads their save file, a tape pops up to reveal that Pink Monkey had gone into hiding and she mocks the player before explaining that she had freed Specter and the rest of the group. Natalie then asks Kei and Yumi to recapture the Freaky Monkey Five, Specter, and all of the remaining monkeys that the player missed during their first run.
Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed[]
While they don't appear in the main story, the Freaky Monkey Five make cameo appearances writing letters in the Monkey Fan Club[1]. Pink and Red also appear as Monkey Summons[2].
