Ape Escape, known in Japan as Excited Saru Get You (レッチュ ゲッチュ サルゲッチュ) is a series of computer-generated anime shorts produced by Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment for TV Tokyo in April 2002.[1] It is based on the Ape Escape video game series, with the characters and designs based on Ape Escape 2 in particular, releasing 3 months before the game. The series consists of 75 45-second shorts that aired as part of the Oha Suta variety program in Japan.
A 22-minute movie based on the series, entitled Ape Escape The Movie: Battle for the Golden Pipo Helmet, was released on August 17, 2002 in Japan.
In 2004, three of these shorts were dubbed into English and were aired in the inaugural Nicktoons Film Festival.[2]

- The game Ape Escape 2 makes multiple appearances as something Jimmy really wants to play. He also owns a PlayStation 2.
- The opening song of the Japanese dub is Yappari Saru Get You. In the English dub, the intro theme is the same as the title screen music from the US and UK versions of Ape Escape 3.
- One of the Nicktoons Film Festival's founders, Frederator Studios, would later produce their own Ape Escape cartoon series in 2009.
- The Nicktoons series would reuse the logo from the short-lived English dub of this show.
