Rai Do is a major character in the historical seinen anime and manga series, Kingdom. He was the right hand of Kan Ki and the 1st Commander of the Kan Ki Army, being one of its oldest members since their days as a bandit group in the southern regions of the Qin Kingdom and a General in the Qin Military after being promoted from a commander. He was a supporting character in the Sanyou Campaign Arc, Coalition Invasion Arc, a main character of the Koku You Campaign Arc, and a supporting character in the Western Zhao Invasion Arc and in the Battle of Eikyuu Arc.
After decades of fighting for Kan Ki, Rai Do would be captured by the Zhao Great General Ko Chou and his officers during the Battle of Eikyuu. While offered a chance to live after gruesome torture Rai Do refuse to give them any information on Kan Ki's plans and was killed. In response to his death and loyalty, Kan Ki would order his soldiers to behead and burn the heads of over 100,000 captured Zhao soldiers as in part memoriam and outright demonstration of the Kan Ki Army's ruthlessness.
Originally a former bandit leader, Rai Do was "recruited" by Kan Ki after he and gang were absorbed into Kan Ki's larger group of bandits. While initially wanting kill to Kan Ki, Rai Do quickly became one of his most loyal supporters and would kill anyone that dare to insult his leader. He would join the Qin Military after Kan Ki was recruited by the Qin Great General, Mou Gou.
Personality[]
Rai Do was a bold man with a serious personality. Even when being pressured by difficulties, he was unflinchingly focused, barely being fazed when threatened by the berserkers, Zenou Clan or ordering an attack against opponents with more numbers. Like all the Kan Ki Army's former bandit leaders, Rai Do was incredibly capable in snap decisions making even in the thick of battle. In addition, Rai Do had no remorse in committing crimes against citizens or vulnerable prisoners as shown when he committed 'search and kill' operations on citizens of Koku You and regularly ordering his men to capture any "beauties" amongst the female villagers for future entertainment.
