Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
Garfield Lynns is a minor antagonist in season 1 of the TV series Arrow, appearing as the main antagonist of "Burned". He is the series' adaptation of the DC Comics supervillain, Firefly.
Lynns was a former fireman who was left to die by his team in a devastating fire, but survives and seeks vengeance on the ones who betrayed him.
Garfield Lynns was a member of a Starling City firefighters unit that called themselves "Fireflies" due to the tattoos on their hands. He was thought to have perished in the line of duty two years prior to the series, when the Nodell Towers caught on fire due to a faulty gas line causing the entire building to collapse killing thirty-four civilians and six firemen, including Lynns. However, unbeknownst to the public Lynns was pulled out of the rubble alive though he sustained severe burning damage on most of his body, especially the left side of his face. He was then placed in a burn ward at Starling General under the name "John Doe" and remained in a comatose state for months.
Upon finally waking up, Lynns was driven insane by his disfigured appearance and was determined to make his former squad pay for abandoning him. First he murdered Leo Barnes at a fire by dousing him in turpentine which caused him to catch on fire and then did the same thing a week later to a young firefighter named Danny de la Vega, both of which were ruled as mere accidents given the nature of their deaths.
The alleged accidents were soon brought to the attention of the local vigilante by Laurel Lance, who asked him to look into them on her behalf. At another fire at Stagg Chemical, Lynns was seen about to murder his next victim when The Hood suddenly showed up. After he dropped the poor firefighter to his death Lynns successfully fend off The Hood (who was still reeling from PSTD brought on from his near death encounter with the Dark Archer at Christmas) and escaped by throwing a firebomb, vanishing without a trace.
Later, Lynns appeared in his firefighter suit at a fundraiser gala for the Starling City Firemen's Relief Association at Verdant and sets the room on fire causing everyone to evacuate except his former fire chief, Raynes. Lynns scolds Raynes for refusing to send in back up to help him during the Nodell Towers incident and doused him in turpentine just like his other victims. He then attempted to light Raynes up, but was stopped by Oliver Queen dressed as The Hood who graciously extended his hand to Lynns by offering to help him reclaim the man he use to be. Though Lynns appreciated Oliver's kind gesture, he believed that he was too far gone to ever be that man again and sets himself a blaze by walking directly into the flames of the ensuing fire, killing himself.
Personality[]
“
And I told you that we could save the building. But you got scarred. You lost your nerve. YOU LEFT ME IN THERE TO DIE.
„
~ Lynns expresses his anger towards Raynes for leaving him to burn to death.
Garfield Lynns was a devoted civil server that dedicated his life to rescuing people from burning buildings. However, after Nodell Tower Lynns felt betrayed that his teammates left him behind and became a vengeful pyromaniac obsessed with getting even which caused him to go on a merciless rampage throughout Starling City, killing several of his former colleagues by setting them on fire and making it look like his victims died in the line of duty. Lynns personally held his former fire chief, Raynes responsible for what happened to him and saved him for last so that he would know how it felt to be alone like he did. After the Hood intervened, Lynns no longer saw the point in living and committed suicide.

Trivia[]
This marks the first live-action appearance of Firefly. An alternate version named Bridgit Pike would later be introduced in the television series Gotham.
Whilst never confirmed, it is highly possible that Lynns started the fires so that he could inconspicuously murder his victims. This theory was supported by the fact that he caused a fire to break out at Oliver's night club while attempting to kill his final target.
In Arrow, Lynns does not take on the Firefly alias, though it does serve as the nickname of his old firefighter unit.
Also, unlike most adaptations he does not sport a bug themed suit equipped with a jetpack or carry a flamethrower.
