Commander Yammark is one of the eight bosses from Mega Man X6. He makes his lair in a jungle, and when X defeats him, he gets the Yammar Option. These drones can fire electrical projectiles forwards while X himself uses their bodies to shield his own. Ground Scaravich is weak to the Yammar Option's sparks.

He was voiced by Wataru Takagi.

History[]

Yammark was a Reploid created by Gate to lead a nature preservation team. He used his Yammar Option to see large parts of the forest, but during one of his missions, an accident made him cause a fire that burnt a large portion of the forest. Yammark was not accused of being responsible for the incident, but someone sabotaged his flight systems during a maintenance check, which caused him to crash, resulting in his death. He was later revived by Gate as one of his Nightmare Investigators, being put in charge of the Amazon Area. Having grown a distrust on the Maverick Hunters and Reploid researchers, he immediately attacks the Hunters when they reach him.

In-battle[]

Yammark fights by using his dragonfly drones, which he can set up on various formations. He is the easiest of the eight bosses, as his patterns are very predictable and he takes considerable damage from the standard weapons. His weakness is the Ray Arrows.

Commander Yammark has the following moves for his arsenal:

• Formation Guard: Commander Yammark flies across the stage while his dragonfly drones fly around him and fire lasers in the direction the commander himself is facing. Three are used in this attack.
• Formation Wing: Commander Yammark's dragonfly drones form a vertical line with him in the middle, their paths undulating as their master flies across his arena horizontally. He can use this attack multiple times in a row. Up to four can be present.
• Formation Final: Once his health drops to 50% or lower, Commander Yammark will activate this move. The commander's drones follow him single-file, dropping bombs on X's head should the latter pass underneath them.

While their master isn't using any of his above attacks, Commander Yammark's drones will shoot X.

• Etymology: Commander Yammark derives his name from the Japanese word Yanma, which refers to dragonflies of the family Aeshnidae. (Dragonflies in general are called Tonbo.)
• The motives of the man who sabotaged Commander Yammark's flight system is unknown.
• Commander Yammark's weakness to Ray Arrows stems from how pilots can lose control of their equipment when they get zapped. Since he is also an insect-type Repliroid, this may also reference bug zappers.
• Commander Yammark is one of three bosses who summon minions in battle. Metal Shark Player and Infinity Mijinion also have this trait during their fights: Metal Shark Player creates imitations of previous bosses while Infinity Mijinion summons copies of his physical form.
• Commander Yammark is technically the only boss in the X games to have only one name, as Commander is actually a title.
