Villain Overview

I will accept no advantage.
~ Battle Beast displays his sense of honor in battle before slashing his stomach open to even the wounded Thragg's odds with him.
This is no game! This is WHAT I LIVE FOR! This is MY LIFE!
~ Battle Beast to Thragg.

Thokk, better known as Battle Beast, is a supporting character in the Image Comics series Invincible. He is an intergalactic warrior who seeks to find a worthy opponent to fight. He is also the main protagonist of his own series

He is voiced by Michael Dorn, who also played Captain Mozar in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012).

Personality[]

Battle Beast is a brutish warrior who seeks worthy opponents to fight, as he has travel across the universe to search for worthy opponents before ending up on Earth. While ruthless and sadistic upon defeating his opponents as shown with Invincible and his demeanor in berating his opponents as well as his taste for the blood of his opponents, Battle Beast still shows a honorable trait; that being his refusal to kill Invincible as he believes that any weaker foes are unworthy of fighting him, as it is not considered an honor. Battle Beast does not accept an uneven clash either; when Thragg was disemboweled by a Ragnar, Battle Beast also gutted his own abdomen, ending in a morbidly fair fight where Thragg emerged victorious.

Biography[]

The Leonine extra-terrestrial Battle Beast claims to have conquered a thousand worlds and that galactic empires tremble at the sound of his name. These boasts remain unverified, but given his might, could well be true. He lives for the fight, viewing personal combat as sport, seeking to test himself against worthy adversaries, which, given his power levels, are few and far between. When he encounters a meritorious foe, Battle Beast likes to claim a trophy from them, usually their decapitated head. His original name is Thokk and he was worshiped as a messiah figure from his home planet for ending war and bringing peace but years of war took a toll on and he left to search for worthy foes, but his people believe one day he would return. He would later meet Invincible and the other Guardians of the Globe when they encounter Thragg, but Battle Beast interfered and almost killed Invincible and the other Guardians, but later left after getting bored. He was then hired by Allen the Alien to kill Thragg. After brutally and gruesomely fighting each other for days, Thragg eventually killed Battle Beast, passing out after he sustained injuries, and took his head as a trophy. Before his death, Battle Beast eventually thanked Thragg for the worthy fight he has been looking for ages. In the finale, it is shown that Battle Beast has a daughter who takes up his mantle and continues his legacy.

Powers and Abilities[]

Battle Beast possesses immense strength, speed, stamina, and durability and is a master of weapons. He is possibly the most powerful being in the Invincible universe, as he effortlessly curb stomped Mark Grayson and crew without breaking much of a sweat, and could have easily squashed them all like insects if he hadn't left out of boredom because the fight was simply too easy for him. He then fought the most powerful Viltrumite Thragg while having previously slit his own stomach to even out the fight. The fight lasted for days before Thragg barely managed to defeat Battle Beast by a hair, a fight that Battle Beast likely would have won if he hadn't deliberately weakened himself for an enjoyable fight with whom he saw as a worthy opponent. All these feats demonstrate Battle Beast's ridiculous power.

Quotes[]

I was promised this world offered worthy opponents! But oh, how you disappoint. Killing you is an act of mercy.
~ Battle Beast taunting Invincible.
Pathetic. This battle is beneath me. There is no honor in killing insects.
~ Battle Beast expressing disappointment in Earths heroes.

Trivia[]

  • Thokk is based on Mongul from the DC Comics.
