Spacious and crustaceous!

— Dr. Ivo Robotnik, Sonic the Hedgehog 3

The Mecha Crab,[1] commonly known as simply the Crab and referred to in merchandise as the Crab Mech, is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. It is a mobile base created and used by Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

Description[]

Appearance[]

The Mecha Crab is, fittingly, a giant crab-based mech, somewhat resembling a massive Crabmeat. The Crab is white with a black underbelly and detailing, and features a red "eye" on the front, two large pincer claws, and six legs.

Features and abilities[]

Powers[]

The Mecha Crab is capable of going underwater and travelling far distances. Not much else is known.

Features[]

Inside, there is a screen where Robotnik watches a Mexican soap opera, La Última Pasión. There is also a badnik that Robotnik uses as a microwave to heat up his food, which also has sauce dispensers underneath it. There is a computer in the room that Robotnik uses the trace the coordinates of his badniks, covered in wrappers before he pushes them off to use the computer. There is also another computer that Agent Stone uses to control the mech when they were going to the abandoned G.U.N. lab.

History[]

Film series[]

Past[]

The Mecha Crab was created by Dr. Robotnik some time before the Project Shadow incident. After Emerald Eggman's defeat in Green Hills, the doctor became a hermit, living undersea in the Crab alongside his assistant Agent Stone.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3[]

After Team Sonic follows a mysterious biker from the Chao Garden, the person reveals themselves to be Agent Stone. He invites Team Sonic into the Mecha Crab, having them meet Robotnik. Robotnik now has long, untidy hair and a big belly. He is seen watching a Mexican soap opera, La Última Pasión, while taking out a hot pocket from a badnik he uses as a microwave and putting sauce on it. He turns around before being scared by Team Sonic's arrival as they look at him in confusion and disgust.

After finding out that someone else was using his badniks, Robotnik agrees to work with Team Sonic, tracking down the coordinates of his badniks. Agent Stone shaves off Robotnik's hair and has some of his clothes used to make Robotnik's suit bigger as he is unable to fit into his old suit after gaining weight. They then use a ring portal to go to the abandoned G.U.N. lab, where the badniks were traced to.

After Robotnik teams up with Gerald and Shadow, they both use virtual reality goggles inside the Mecha Crab to bond with each other since they were "ahead of schedule" and wanted to spend time with each other. After this, they take the Mecha Crab to London, where they park it in a sewer before going to the G.U.N. headquarters.

Shadow and Agent Stone stay in the Mecha Crab since they are not needed in the plan yet. They make guacamole and make small talk before Tails floods the sewer, destroying the Mecha Crab. Later on, Agent Stone gets out of the destroyed mech and calls Robotnik, telling him that Gerald may have been hiding something. Robotnik doesn't listen and fires him before hanging up.
