Plot[]

The episode starts with Nine finishing the Shattercraft. With the Eggforcers arriving outside of his lab, Nine tested out his invention and discovered the Void using the red Prism Shard he had. However, one of the floating shards damaged one of the engines and he decided to land in The Grim. At the Grim, he discovered another shard and decided to use its energy to a home for both him and Sonic.

At the present, back at the Yoke, Nine temporarily locked the Chaos Council out of the system. As Sonic and Nine were heading down the stairs, Nine decided to trick them into thinking they were heading down to the street by using a spare Regulator to copy the signal of the Regulators on Sonic. After the Council realized they were gone, Mr. Dr. Eggman was surprised to see that the Shards were gone and told the other members that they need to get them back. Even though they have the Shards, Sonic wondered why the Eggforcers aren’t powering down and Nine replied that residual energy was stored in the Mothership and won’t power down any time soon. As they headed for the Shattercraft, Sonic took down Dr. Babble in his mech suit. After Dr. Don’t mocked Mr Dr. Eggman over where they were going, Mr Dr. Eggman told Dr. Deep and Dr. Done-it to get the Yolkomotive in the air. As Sonic and Nine were in the air, Dread saw both of the them with the blue Shard in their possession. Then Deep and Done-it ambushed Sonic and Nine, damaging the Shattercraft. As the Yolkomotive was heading for them, Sonic and Nine were saved by the Kraken, piloted by Rusty and Black Rose, who helped Sonic retrieve the red and green Prism Shards in the Shard Case. While the two pink hedgehogs distracted Deep and Done-it, Sonic told Nine that he can get them to the Void with the Prism Energy within him. But seeing that he can’t hit top speed with the Eggforcers behind them, he decided to use the portals the Chaos Council opened. However, Nine declined that idea seeing that they were too unstable, but seeing that Rusty and Black Rose were okay going through it, he changed his mind. Sonic then took both of them to No Place. In No Place, they saw some buildings that the Chaos Council created through "Operation: Chaos Terraformation" and seeing Don’t and Babble behind them, Nine asked Sonic if he can go any faster, but Sonic said he couldn't kick up enough speed on the water. Then the duo saw Batten, Sails, and Catfish on the the Angel’s Voyage, with Sails being surprised to see his New Yoke City counterpart. Sonic asked then if they can help out and they accept and as Sonic was about to leave, Sails waved goodbye to his counterpart. Batten then ordered Catfish to fire some fireworks at the two doctors with fireworks.

Arriving back to New Yoke, Dread showed up and told Sonic that he wanted the blue Shard. As Sonic thought they were cool with each other, Dread said that he was wrong. When Dread was about to attack Sonic, Renegade Knucks showed up and fought against his counterpart while Rebel Rouge fought some Eggforcers.

Sonic then took the duo to the Boscage Maze. Running in the Boscage Maze, they ran by the scavengers Sonic waved a quick hello, with Nine being surprised, then seemingly angry to see Mangey. As Sonic was ticked off with buildings in the Boscage Maze, Thorn showed up and replied that he’s not the only one and that Nine looks a lot like Mangey. As Sonic made introductions, the Shatterspace was shaking again to the close proximity of the Shards. Sonic asked Thorn for help and she accepted. Rusty and Black Rose showed up in the Boscage as well shooting down some Eggforcers. However, they were surprised seeing another one of their counterparts, but were impressed with Thorn’s fighting. Then Sonic was able to kick up enough speed to get to the Void, leaving it as a surprise to Mr Dr. Eggman that Sonic and Nine vanished.

In the Void, Sonic was tired, but Shadow caught the Case on time. After Sonic made introductions, Nine thought Shadow was a twin, but Shadow replies that he is the "Ultimate Life Form". After they made it to Ghost Hill, Nine seemed agitated at the optimism of the original Tails, with a reality quake happening again soon after. Nine told the two hedgehogs that they need to hurry, so Shadow showed them the way to the Temple Mountain. Once they were inside, they opened the Shard Case, which excited Sonic, due to the fact that they just had to rebuild the Paradox Prism, but Nine told them that the alignment of the Shards had to be perfect as to not not alter reality even more, and got to working on stabilising the red, green and blue Shards' energy before reconnecting them to the yellow Shard to revert the Ghost Prism into its true form, the Paradox Prism. Shadow took Sonic outside to talk about Nine’s motives, with Shadow still not trusting Nine. While they were talking, the Council’s Mothership showed up and Mr Dr. Eggman was glad to see that with another world, means another Shard that they could steal for their nefarious purposes.

Regional differences[]

  • When the Angel Voyage crew encounters Dr. Don't and Dr. Babble, Sonic asks the crew if they would "like another crack at these guys." Whereas in the Mandarin Chinese dub, it is translated as "要不要我幫你們對付這些傢伙啊?" (Yào bùyào wǒ bāng nǐmen duìfù zhèxiē jiāhuo a?, "Do you want me to help you deal with these guys?")

Trivia[]

  • This is the second episode that Sonic says/references the line "Gotta go fast!" from Sonic X.
  • Dr. Don't mocks Mr. Dr. Eggman by imitating him and adding "That's what you sound like" which may be a reference to a scene from the Sonic Boom episode, The Curse of Buddy Buddy Temple.

Errors[]

  • When Nine suggests heading to The Grim, it doesn't really make much sense, as Sonic already let him down on his plan for them in Situation: Grim, perhaps due to the flashback of Nine first discovering The Grim earlier on in the episode.
  • When Sonic brushes off Nine's suggestion of heading to The Grim, Sonic refers to it as "Grim".
