P'obyano is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. She is a member of Adventurers' Guild and a Chaperone of the Moonfire Faire.
History[]
Early life[]
As a young girl, P'obyano was friends with Nekeke. One day while they were playing on the beach they were attacked by a monster. They were saved in time by an adventurer who quickly dispatched the beast and took them to safety. She vowed that one day she would serve the Adventurers' Guild and repay her debt to the brave soul who rescued her.[1]
Moonfire Faire 2015[]
In order to attract more people to the Adventurers' Guild, it was decided to hold the event in Costa del Sol. Once Master Gegeruju had given them permission to use his beaches, the Adventurers' Guild began preparations. Needing help, Haermaga asked Warrior of Light to help the chaperones in Costa del Sol. When speaking with chaperone P'obyano, she explained that she is dealing with unruly pirates, dirty beaches, curious beasts, and hungry customers. P'obyano then asked Warrior of Light to help Espan and the head cook, C'zibho Tia.[2]
Once done, before P'obyano can give a reward to the Warrior of Light, the pirate Wunthyll scares the fairgoers on the beach. Gegeruju, unhappy that anyone dared to disturb his gaze, demanded that something be done. P'obyano determined that the best thing to do would be to try to reach a peaceful solution with the pirate. She asked the Warrior of Light to go ahead and search for Wunthyll while she found someone to look after the tent in her absence.[3]
Wunthyll was part of a group that was to colonize the lands around Bloodshore. The group worked hard to make an honest living, until one day Gegeruju bought the land and the troublesome settlers returned to a life of piracy. P'obyano sympathized with the group's hardships, but insists that piracy is not the only way to make a living. Sensing a golden opportunity, she suggested that the pirate join the Adventurers' Guild. The pirate is eventually convinced to seriously consider a career change and even offers to tell his fellow pirates about the opportunity. P'obyano is pleased with the conclusion and returns to her duties at the fair, treating the pirates with the same consideration as the other guests.[3]
Moonfire Faire 2017[]
At the request of Gegeruju himself, the Moonfire Faire would be held on the Isle of Endless Summer to promote it as a new paradise resort. Haermaga said to Warrior of Light that things were going well, however, it was having many more visitors than anticipated and he asks Warrior of Light to help with the event. P'obyano directs the Warrior of Light to Jiriri, the supervisor of all the fireworks for the fair and in charge of managing this island. Jiriri asked him to light some fireworks. While letting off the fireworks, the Warrior of Light hears an adventurer talking about a hidden treasure. Once reporting to P'obyano, she says that Haermaga may know more about the treasure. She says she still has tasks that need help and asks to help them some more.[4]
Moonfire Faire 2018[]
Haermaga reveals that they have built an obstacle course as the centerpiece of this year's festivities. The organizers of the event believe that the sight of members of the Adventurers' Guild risking their lives to complete an increasingly difficult series of challenges will inspire the younger generation to one day become adventurers.[5]
Beaudefoin was the guide on the way, he explained the simple rules of the Eorzean Nimble Warrior course. Each of the three sections was led by a Moonfire Faire chaperone. J'nangho was the first chaperone. Upon witnessing his completion of the first test, J'nangho is pleased, but not surprised. She warns that greater challenges must be overcome to reach Hildelana's platform at the end of the second stretch. Arriving at the second goal, Hildelana quickly presents the final course. P'obyano was the final chaperone, she applauds the Warrior of Light for completing the challenge.[6]
Moonfire Faire 2019[]
Beaudefoin and P'obyano were the chaperones responsible for the "Eorzean Nimble Warrior" event.[7]
The Rising 2019[]
After the Moonfire Faire was over, P'obyano asked Warrior of Light to help her collect the garbage dumped on the sands of Bloodshore beach. After collecting the trash, P'obyano thanked them for their efforts and was curious about the presence of a bottle containing a message that was among the collected trash. She promptly extracts and reads the largely illegible missive, which appears to have been written with a dark prophecy. Concerned that another calamity is imminent, P'obyano asks the Warrior of Light to deliver the letter to Bran at Limsa Lominsa, a reporter for the Harbor Herald who specializes in such matters.
With the job done, the Warrior of Light returns to Bloodshore to share news of all that has happened with P'obyano. P'obyano is relieved to learn that the ominous letter is years old and that no calamity or catastrophe is imminent. She then explains that, in a rather curious development, more message bottles were dropped on the beach after the Warrior of Light went to Ul'dah. She says that if the Warrior of Light was curious about the contents, he could help her retrieve the bottles.[8]
Moonfire Faire 2021[]
According to Mayaru Moyaru, the feature of this year's festivities would be a delicious dessert ordered by Master Gegeruju. P'obyano said that the person in charge of creating the dessert was a renowned confectioner named Nekeke. She left for the northern seas in search of the best ice in all of Eorzea, main ingredient for the dessert, and had not yet returned.[9]
As P'obyano ponders what might have happened, she is interrupted by a scream coming from the beach. P'obyano confirms that it is none other than Nekeke who seems to be drowning in the water. Rescued, Nekeke gathers her fragmented memories and recounts her anguish. In retrieving a piece of pure ice from the harsh northern islands, it appears that she has inadvertently brought with her a particularly stormy demon that was responsible for sinking her ship and now threatens to wreak havoc on the typically peaceful shores of Costa del Sol. P'obyano is quick to assure her, however, that they are more than prepared for the task of stopping this threat.[9]
With Bombard defeated, Nekeke was able to get to work on dessert. Nekeke goes into the kitchen to begin work on her latest masterpiece. Meanwhile P'obyano shares a history of her and Nekeke's past.[1]
Moonfire Faire 2022[]
Beaudefoin, Hildelana, and P'obyano have returned as the chaperones of the reworked Eorzean Nimble Warrior.[10]
Moonfire Faire 2024[]
While Haermaga explained to Warrior of Light that year they had added a Far Eastern flair with fans called "uchiwa", a scream was heard. Upon locating the source of the scream, a terrified tourist told him that a strange creature had challenged him to a dance-off and fled after defeating him. While Warrior of Light was investigating, Haermaga informed Beaudefoin and P'obyano about the scream. The pair rushed to the scene to help the Warrior of Light.[11]
While they were theorizing about what the creatures might be, Memeja appeared to apologize. Memeja had been invited by Gegeruju to take part in the festivities, she had traveled from Ul'dah and had brought her pet cactuars with her. Memeja said that her pets had been behaving themselves until just when she had met Gegeruju. When she had gone away to have a drink, the pets went crazy and Gegeruju couldn't control them.[12]
The Warrior of Light, Beaudefoin and P'obyano searched for the cactuars and used the uchiwa to calm them down. After all the cactuars had been captured and calmed down. The party returned to inform Haermaga of the news. While theorizing about what could have caused the pets to go berserk, Gegeruju comments that they went crazy after he shared a bottle of wine with the cactuars without Memeja's knowledge. Haermaga was grateful that Warrior of Light had resolved the crisis before any of the fair's participants had been hurt.[13]
