Chambui of the Dazkar is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. She is a merchant that can be found at Reunion in the Azim Steppe.

History[]

Chambui can be found selling buuz hunted by the women of her tribe and prepared by their husbands. Chambui was consulted when the Warrior of Light travels to Azim Steppe looking for Hien Rijin, but Chambui said she did not know the whereabouts of any Doman.[1]

When the merchants decided to hold a banquet to honor the Qestir for creating the Reunion, Chambui, along with Baidur and Uto, were the last three merchants to deliver their food for the banquet.[2]

Chambui is consulted again when Tamachag asked the Warrior of Light to investigate the merchants and try to find out who the merchant was who was ruining Reunion's reputation by selling overpriced goods to unsuspecting foreigners.[3]

Because she had been busy with trading, Chambui did not have time to go hunting and was almost out of buzz ingredients. She asked the Warrior of Light to kill four steppe dzos and deliver them to her husband.[4]

When Curious Gorge traveled to Azim Steppe in search of the Qerel tribe, he consults the local merchants and was told by Chambui that the Qerel settlement had been attacked.[5]

Chambui creation from Live Letter XLVI

NPC creation process using Chambui as an example.

During an interview in Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XLVI, Quest Designer Saki Takayanagi explained about creating a village in the game and used Chambui as an example for the creation of NPCs. Takayanagi said that at first NPCs stand still without movement and are adjusted according to their background. For Chambui, she was a merchant so a movement of her showing products was chosen, as she is one of the first NPCs encountered when arriving in Reunion, she had her design adjusted as well as her sleeves rolled up so as not to disturb her trading.[6]
