Using Orokin Reactor on Equipment[]
![Installing a Reactor](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warframe/images/7/70/Installing_a_Reactor.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/350?cb=20150806051504)
How to install an Orokin Reactor
To apply an Orokin Reactor, go to the Arsenal and access the desired item's Mod loadout. Select Action at the bottom of the screen and select Upgrade.
An applied Orokin Reactor will double the equipment's mod capacity. A rank 1 equipment with a Reactor installed will have a capacity of 2, which will increase to 60 at rank 30. Reactors can only be applied once.
Notes[]
- Warframes and Companions purchased with Platinum come with Orokin Reactors pre-installed.
- Once used on a Warframe, Archwing, or Companion, an Orokin Reactor cannot be taken back off to be used elsewhere. This also applies to the
Orokin Catalyst.
- Every Warframe's maximum Mod Capacity is 78, this can be achieved by adding an Orokin Reactor to the frame and placing certain maxed Aura mods in the Aura Slot with a matching Polarity — 30 [Base] × 2 [Orokin Reactor] + 9 [Max Rank
Steel Charge Aura] × 2 [Matching Polarity] = 78.
- The only exception to this is Jade, who can reach a Mod Capacity of 96 due to her having 2 aura slots.
- With matching polarities for every mod (by expending Forma), the maximum mod capacity ranges from a minimum 138 to a maximum 148 (due to rounding of energy costs). As of Update 14, either value cannot be exceeded.
Trivia[]
- The Orokin Reactor's build requirements, build time, base Rush cost, and Market price are identical to that of Forma.
- Orokin Reactors are often referred to by players as 'golden potatoes' (and Orokin Catalysts 'blue potatoes'), or in some cases, simply 'potatoes.' This may have originated from the devs, who have occasionally referred to them as potatoes.
- The Potato T-shirt available in the official Warframe merchandise store is a reference to this.
- "Potato" is referenced again during A Man of Few Words when Darvo steals a "Potent Orokin Technical Augmentation and Tactical Offensive" device.
Patch History[]
Update 30.5 (2021-07-06)
- Players can now install an Orokin Catalyst / Orokin Reactor onto ungilded Modular items, specifically:
- Kitguns (Primary + Secondary)
- Zaw (Melee)
- Modular Companions (Moas + Hounds)
- Being unable to install a Reactor or Catalyst onto an ungilded modular item significantly slowed down progression on new Modular items. Players who were willing to make the investment into Modular items weren’t able to Mod them to their full capacity, which left their new gear feeling very underpowered. So we have removed that restriction!
Update 27.3 (2020-03-24)

- Build time to 23 hours so that 1 can be built consistently every day.
