“ | Wily: I give you: The Mega Suit! The first true conduit between man and machine. M. Bison: Very impressive, doctor. But is it battle ready? Wily: What? Light: Of course, of course. This one's already been fitted with an arm cannon. Wily: Thomas! What's the meaning of this? Light: You drove our company into the ground, Albert, and I had to make a decision. Wily: We were supposed to help people! Not turn them into weapons! Light: Be reasonable, dammit! We need the funding! |

~ Light to Wily after his true intentions were revealed, building the Mega Suits to aid M. Bison's sinister goals. |
Dr. Thomas Light is the main antagonist and deuteragonist villain of the Secret History episode, Secret History of Mega Man.
He was the former scientific partner of Dr. Wily who founded L.W. Technologies prior to 20XX, helping improve life in Mega City with their technologies. After the company began to struggle due to Wily's absence after his son's accident, Light would become desperate to keep his company afloat, making a deal with M. Bison to make him weaponized suits to help his military. Now, Light raises Rock, Wily's son, after the accident that would rob him of his memories and destroy Light's and Wily's relationship forever.
He was voiced by Mick Lauer, who also voiced Dr. Wily in the same episode, and also Tails and Raiden in the same series.
Biography[]
Alongside his business partner, Dr. Wily, Light would create L.W. Technologies, dedicated to improving life with countless technological innovations, bringing a Robotic Renaissance by the year 20XX. After Wily's son, Rock, became victim to an accident that would leave him paralyzed and comatose, however, the company began to decline and went on the verge of bankruptcy.
With Light desperate to keep his company afloat, he would break his peacekeeping oath and accept a deal to help M. Bison by creating Mega Suits for his soldiers. Light would approach Wily with the idea sometime later. Wily was mad at first, but after Light convinced him it was just for helping injured soldiers returning from war and that maybe the technology could help save his son, Wily would agree to help his friend create the suits.
Upon presenting the prototype to Bison, Light would show him it was completely ready for battle, to Wily's surprise. Wily would immediately question his long time friend on why he would do this, with Thomas responding that this was the only way he believed they could actually save their company as he believed Wily was responsible for their company being on the brink of bankruptcy. Wily, however, was shocked by the entire fact Light was making machinery that could turn people into weapons, instead of helping those in need, which would lead to Wily tearing out the suits core, causing an explosion which Light survived thanks to Roll taking the hit for him.
After the explosion, Light would learn that Rock had received brain damage from the accident, and instead of having Roll track Wily down, he would tend to the boy instead. Light would shut down production of the Megasuits and begin to raise a now amnesia ridden Rock as his own, believing this would be the only way to make up and honor his former friend.
Personality[]
Albert was considered to be a highly intelligent individual who did what he could to help the citizens of Mega City, creating multiple technologies with his scientific partner, Wily and helping many people. However, after Wily's absence due to his son's accident, Light seemingly began to struggle without him, making unsuccessful technologies and had a hard time keeping his company afloat, becoming desperate for money to keep L.W. Technologies from shutting down. Thomas would blame Albert for his company's struggles and become willing to breaking his peace oath in order to keep it going, agreeing to make a shaddy deal with M. Bison to create the Megasuits to help his military take down enemies more easily.
Light was also completely fine with lying to Wily that the Megasuits were just going to be for injured soldiers and others in need, while in reality, they were going to be weapons of war. While Light's behavior toward Wily did seem to take a turn for the worst, however, he still seemed to consider him to be his friend, trying to warn him that the core was unstable after tearing it out of the Mega Suit prototype and let him get away after the explosion, instead of telling Roll to catch him.
After the accident at the lab, Light appears to be remorseful. Light would take Rock in and begin to raise him as he believed it was the only way he could honor his old friend and wants to reconnect with him. Light would also shut down the Megasuits, now likely seeing the danger they could have caused and most likely feels awful for what they caused to his relationship with Wily. Light does also appear to care for Rock, trying to give him a normal childhood despite having some struggles with the child, trying celebrate his birthday and gifting him a robotic dog which he would both accidentally destroy.

Trivia[]
- Light is perhaps the only Secret History villain that seemingly is on some path to redemption, considering he appears to feel genuinely sorry for what he did and now is trying to better himself as a person by raising Rock.
- With Wily now gone and Light shutting down the production of the Megasuits, it is completely unknown what happened to L.W. Technologies. It is most likely that they went bankrupt considering without the Megasuits, Light wouldn't be able to make money from Bison.
