“ | You'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't wanna go making friends with the wrong sort. | „ |
~ Draco Malfoy expressing his status and supremacist stance. |
The Malfoys are a dark magical family and major antagonists in the Harry Potter series. Part of the Sacred 28, a group of British wizarding families who were still considered truly Pure-Blood, the Malfoys were notorious for their supremacist views on the world, views that saw them as prominent followers of the Dark Lord Voldemort.
All of the members were sorted in to the Hogwarts house Slytherin and some were members of the Death Eaters. While Draco's parents' xenophobic culture would only lessen somewhat overtime, Draco himself would break away from this altogether, being the only member of his family to truly redeem himself.
History[]
The Malfoy bloodline extends back almost 1,000 years, making them one of the oldest and most powerful wizarding families in the world. Every single member that attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry would be sorted into Slytherin House due to their fierce blood purity background. With the rise of Tom Riddle, now feared the world over as Lord Voldemort, the Malfoys became high ranking members of the Death Eaters, with Lucius himself serving as one of Voldemort's top lieutenants. During the First Wizarding War, Lucius and Bellatrix would go on to commit countless crimes in their genocidal crusade, with Bellatrix herself being the most extreme, devoted, and deranged Death Eater of all.
In 1980, a year before Voldemort's first defeat, Lucius and Narcissa would have a child, Draco. Lucius was able to avoid being sent to Azkaban for his crimes by making fake claims he only served Voldemort under the Imperius Curse, while Bellatrix was locked away. Lucius would continue serving his leader from the shadows, while also spreading his influence and corruption throughout the British Ministry of Magic.
