Gunnar Grimmson is a supporting antagonist in the 2018 film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
He was portrayed by Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson.
Biography[]
Grimmson was a wizard-bounty hunter, who was employed by the British Ministry of Magic over the years. At some point he got in a rivalry with Newt Scamander.
Around 1927, he was hired by the Ministry of Magic in order to assassinate Credence Barebone, after Newt Scamander had turned down the task to capture the young man but was actually secretly working for Gellert Grindelwald. He was instructed by Grindelwald to kill Irma Dugard, in order to deprive Credence of the answers he was seeking and to push him into Grindelwald's arms. Grimmson succeeded at this, killing Irma before Credence’s eyes, turning Credence against the British Ministry of Magic, of whom Credence believed Gunnar was working for.
He later met Grindelwald in the sewers of Paris, in which the dark lord promised that the bounty hunter would be remembered as a hero in history for his services, Grindelwald quoting his famous line - “For the greater good”.
