Montano Cartel are an antagonistic organization in the Just Cause video game series. They are a drug cartel operating in San Esperito and aligned with its president. They have a rivalry with the Rioja Cartel, which the Agency and Rico Rodriguez exploit in their war against Mendoza.
History[]
Montano Cartel aligned itself with San Esperito's tyrannical ruler, Salvador Mendoza, who provided cover to its drug trafficking. They fought the Rioja Cartel over the possession of villas and coca fields across the country. When Rico Rodriguez infiltrated the Rioja Cartel under the identity of an American drug dealer, they combined their efforts with the ERL guerrilas to fight both the Montanos and the government forces. A few of Rico's missions include sabotaging Montanos' business by either robbing them or destroying their property.
Trivia[]
- For unknown reasons, Montano Cartel will fight San Esperitan military and police when they encounter any, despite supposedly being aligned with their master.
