“ | It's a wild ride, this "passage of fate". We got ourselves a nice little awakening. | „ |
~ D |
“ | Ever... had dreams? Dreams of dying, of being slaughtered. Ah. Most people forget as soon as they wake, no harm done. But tell you what. They're all completely true. [...] Dreams you see, they're little traces of intense memories from your past lives, that didn't get purged before rebirth. Little harmless bugs in the system, let's call 'em. However, not so with Moebius. Just like the runt said, when you become Moebius, in that very moment, all your past memories come rushing back to you! To put it mildly, its... it's transcendent. | „ |
~ D reminiscing about his time when he was known as "Blackblaze Dirk". |
“ | Well? Huh? Doesn't it make you tingle? As long as I am Moebius, I can enjoy this superlative feeling forever and ever! I'll bury the world in my sweet collectibles! | „ |
~ D declaring his enjoyment as Moebius. |
Consul D, previously known as Blackblaze Dirk is a major antagonist of the videogame Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He's a bloodthirsty Consul member of Moebius, who acts as a reoccurring opponent against Ouroboros alongside Consul J.
He was voiced by Yoji Ueda in Japanese and Johnathan Slinger in English.
Appearance[]
D is a warrior with brown eyes, blonde hair, and a ring on his right ear. His armor is red with a purple core in the center, and what appears to be a collar surrounding his neck. His helmet has two horns protruding to the sides that are decorated with two ornaments near the tips, similar to Grahf.
Biography[]
Prior to being a Consul, Dirk was a soldier of Agnus notable for not using a Blade, but rather a pair of claws that he used to slice, skewer, and decapitate his opponents, storing their severed heads as trophies in his collection. Not only killing Kevesi soldiers but also allied Agnian soldiers out of sheer enjoyment. At some point, Dirk died and accepted his position as a Consul to continue his sadistic hobby.
Becoming Consul D, he was appointed as the leader of Colony 18 for the Kevesi. But when it reached Gold Rank, the highest colony rank, D massacred the entire colony for outliving their usage to him. His last victim would be a past incarnation of Eunie, traumatizing her upon discovering her husk within the remnants of the colony.
D, in his interlinked form with J, first appears during Noah's battle against Mio when they spot D battling against a group of Lost Numbers and their leader Guernica Vandham, who he addresses as their "real enemy". When Guernica passes them the Ouroboros Stone, D goads Noah and Mio's squads to give him the stone by killing their friends Mwamba and Hackt. The badly injured Guernica pilots his Levis to distract D, only to be ripped out but Noah charges at D before he could kill Guernica. Despite their efforts, D overwhelms the party until Guernica activates the Ouroboros Stone to turn the six into the Ouroboros. The party, aided by Noah's Ouroboros form with Mio, bested D and forced him to retreat, but not before activating a message to the other Consuls. In Origin, his accompanied Consuls berate him for his failure.
Later on, when the party sneaks into Keves Castle to destroy the Annihilator risking the destruction of the liberated colonies, they are intercepted by D and J. He removes his mask to reveal his face to the party. The team battles against interlinked D and J again, but they are able to defend the Annihilator from the Ouroboros' assault. D notices Eunie cowering to fight back and recognizes her as the sharpshooter from Colony 18 and sadistically taunts her. Eventually, Eunie snaps out of her trauma and aids her friends in fighting D. D grabs Eunie, only to discover it was an illusion made by Taion and he destroys the Annihilator with his Mondo. He attempts to take D out with the Annihilator by pinning his arms to the machine as it falls from the castle, but D was able to escape by canceling his interlink with J.
Much later in the game, the party uncover the Cloudkeep to get help from Queen Nia so they could enter Origin to face on Moebius directly. Just as Nia wakes up, D appears behind them and impales Nia through the chest, seemingly killing her (she survives as D missed her vitals). The party defeat both Consuls in their Moebius forms and try to reason out with J/Joran and offer him redemption. Suddenly, D pins J to the ground and calls him a loser before forcefully interlinking with him.
Once the party defeat the interlinked form of D and J, Joran reinstates control over their merged body and absorbs black fog surrounding the area. D is at first at joy to have this much power until he realizes Joran's true intention of overheating and orders him to cancel the interlink. Joran refuses and forces D over the edge of Cloudkeep, killing both of them in an annihilation explosion.
