Grahf is the secondary antagonist of Xenogears.
Appearance[]
Grahf dresses in a black and dark red cloak and wears a mask with what resembles pointed ears sticking out like an elf's.
Powers and Abilities[]
Grahf is capable of taking on giant robots without one of his own and can levitate and fire projectiles.
Biography[]
Grahf first had a cameo during the attack on Lahan Village, but it wasn't until later that he admits responsibility. He manipulated Gebler into sending Elly to retrieve a gear known as Wel-tall in order to awaken Id. When he himself arrived, Grahf had one of the gears kill Fei's best friend, Timothy, this caused Id to finally awaken.
Grahf confronts Fei and company onboard a battleship where he tells them that the Goliath was not built for them to use and cannot allow him to leave the land. He proceeds to fight them where he finds they can draw on more of their power now and realizes something before Citan comes to Fei's aid which necessitated a retreat from battle.
During the game, Grahf appeared in front of Vanderkam, Bishop Stone, and Shakhan. Each time, he gave them and their machine "The Power". This gave the three minor villains enhanced abilities but invariably leads to madness, and their resulting demise.
Following Hammer's murder of Elly's mother, who had saved her daughter from him, Grahf appears alongside a person called the Executioner, asking Fei and company to leave Elly, much to Fei's frustration. Fei and party proceed to fight back where Grahf remarks how better they have become. Elly's father Erich proceeds to hold the two off while everyone flees. The Executioner remarks on how Erich and his deceased wife doted on their child before using his magic to deal with him before destroying his mech with him inside it. Elly's group did not heed his words to escape, and they were subjected to the Executioner's magic.
It is soon revealed that Grahf actually originated from Lacan, Fei's previous incarnation. Lacan made contact with the Zohar modifier, but due being incomplete and upset by the loss of Sophia, Lacan became Grahf. After Lacan died, his Grahf personality managed to possess other people. The one that has been following Fei around was his own father, Khan Wang, who was able to gain control on occasions and aid his son as Wiseman. Near the end of the game, Grahf sacrifices himself to temporarily stop the Zohar, taking Khan and Alpha Weltall with him.
Trivia[]
- His armor was made to look like that of Darth Vader.
- The design of his armor was reused for the Consuls in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but the helmet that mostly resembles Grahf's is D's. In spite of this, another consul has a backstory closer to Grahf's.
