The Great Father Macseth (멕세스, Meksehseu; alternatively read as "Mexcess") is a renowned weapons crafter and is also known as the "Father of the Workshop" (Gong Bang). After crafting the legendary White Oar, Macseth stopped creating weapons. The reason for this decision is unknown, as is whether he continued crafting other items, such as Pockets.[1]
Macseth was present in the Tower before Zahard and the Great Warriors entered the Tower. He played a pivotal role in assisting them as they climbed the Tower. It can be said that nearly all advancements that can be classified as "science" in the Tower trace back to him.
He is the founder and leader of the Gong Bang (Workshop).
His Children[]
Macseth has four artificially created "children" named Max, Mai, Mad, and May, each of whom holds the title of Great Teacher within the Gong Bang.
Inventions and Creations[]
Macseth crafted numerous items as a weapons crafter. The only known devices he has made are:
He is also capable of creating artificial lifeforms. Flux, one of the Three Lords of the Zahard Empire and the first Disciple of Macseth, is one such lifeform, as are his 4 "children."[2]
After the Great Warriors ascended the Tower, Macseth created a “creature who is nothing by itself, but can become anything” at the request of Lo Po Bia Traumerei, as part of a gift he promised during his climb. Macseth successfully created “Enkidu”, a parasitic-like shinheuh-creature with the power to shape-shift and steal the bodies of others. [3]
At V’s request, Macseth created the Jade Awkening Stick and the Scales of Judgment for Po Bidau Gustang when V appointed him as the “judge” and “mediator” of the Great Warriors. These items possess extraordinary powers, and their use is bound by a covenant with an Administrator.
The Scales of Judgment have the ability to summon the “Master of the Scales”, who can examine and reveal the “record” of a being within the Tower, including “transcendent” beings such as the Great Family Heads. The Master can then place these memories and testimony of the “sinner” into the scales and judge them for their sins. If the scales find the “sinner” guilty, they have the power to revive the dead and act as executioners for those judged.
The Jade Awakening Stick is used by the chosen executioner to carry out the punishment. This weapon is extremely powerful and is implied to have the ability to circumvent The Immortality Contract possessed by the Great Family Heads , potentially allowing the executioner to truly kill them should they be found guilty.[4]
Notes and Trivia[]
Gustang and Macseth (The Great Father of The Workshop) often meet to exchange stories.[5]
Macseth's status within The Tower is unknown.
A Pocket translates all languages of the Tower into Macseth's language.
It is believed that Macseth is named after Philippe Mexès,[6] a French international footballer.
