Because I know you love what I love...

I have to share this goodness with you!!!
A dear family member of ours has been doing a little purging
and gifted me some of the MOST. GORGEOUS. LACE. EVER!!!

She's given me some lace before as her brother and his wife
used to make heirloom Christening gowns.
She inherited the lace and has now passed it on to me!!!
I feel so honored and also am totally inspired
to create beautiful things with it!

Please just take a peek at this sweet basket full...
Also, I wanted to share with you
what I do to my baby shoes
when creating little baby shoe pincushions.

when the shoes are really scuffed and quite worn,
I like to give them a coat of matte or flat paint
to give them a fresh look!!

Believe it or not, I had purchased a Benjamin Moore color sample
a few years ago, in Manchester Tan, and have been using it!!!
It's such a pale, neutral khaki and looks so beautiful on the shoes.
Who knew?
Using house paint to refresh tiny baby shoes!!

I finally feel like I'm getting back into my groove...
and I'm also kinda glad that I've been procrastinating on making a few
more memory organizers because NOW I have a great new
supply of lace to choose from!!!!

Happy Tuesday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Something new!!!

I've had this on my mind for awhile now...
making a re-usable journal cover.
One that can be transferred to a new notebook
and used again and again!

Well, I did it!
I love the old fashioned composition notebooks,
you know the ones,
with the black and white speckled covers, right?

I created a pattern and this is my very first one!
You can use the notebook as a journal, fill it up and
when you need to buy a new one simply slip off
the journal cover and place it onto a new notebook!

Beautiful layered antique lace...seam binding accents and of course
a rhinestone bauble.
The tie is accented by a gorgeous antique button as well ~

I just added this sweetie to my Etsy store!!!

I hope you are doing so very good and that things are finally warming up
where you live ~ we have been in the 70's here in Georgia and
EVERYTHING is so very green!!!

Happy Thursday my dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

To embellish ~

: to heighten the attractiveness of by adding decorative or fanciful details.

Well, after seeing my sweet lavender sachets
sit in my Etsy shop for a few weeks,
that is EXACTLY what I did!!!
I embellished them even more!

I had to add a vintage watch face with pearl
to the very center...I love them!
AND
I added the last of some gorgeous lace I had
to the edges.

Take a peek in my shop if you are interested!!

Plus, I have to share the neatest thing ~
I've been cleaning up a bit for spring and hosed down our front porch,
cleaned out the planters, bleached the railings and
swept all the winter debris away.

Monday evening it was pristine and ready for some goodness.
Well, after lunch I finally went outside and this is what I find
on one of the small shelves at the end of our porch!
(That was CLEAN the evening before)

A precious bird's nest!!!!

Well, tonight I'm leaving out a plate of cut threads and lace from
beside my sewing machine ~ do you think the bird will use them??
I'll be sure to let you know!

Spring has definitely arrived here in Georgia this week!!!
Temps have been in the high seventies and
everything is SO GREEN!!!

Wishing you a beautiful April Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,Dawn

Something a little new ~

A friend of mine had a special request.
She has inherited her grandmother's crochet needles
and wanted a "book" similar to my needle books
but larger to keep them in.

So....this is what I made!!!
It measures about 7" wide x about 8" high when it is closed.
It really does look like one of my needle keeps!!!
I so hope she loves it ~

Here's an in-progress photo, with pins and lace all over the place.
I made my own pattern using a few crochet hooks that I had.

And yes, I dipped into my yummy stash of lace!!!
It's so much easier to find what I need now that
I've organized it. I have two suitcases full of these treasures...
you can NEVER have enough!
I always say, you can't make beautiful things
if you don't have beautiful supplies ~

The inside first page. Each page has a flap so the crochet hooks don't slide out.
Thank you Vee of A Haven for Vee for sharing that little tip with me!!

I pulled the hooks out a little bit to hold the flap up so you can see the skinny pockets.

The inside center ~

And back page. It will hold sixteen crochet hooks!!

I ended up taking apart a beautiful pair of vintage clip-on earrings and sewed
them to the front. Since this book was bigger, the adornments needed to be larger too.

So there you have it.
I hope she loves it!!!

Thank you always for stopping by to see what I'm up to dear friends ~

Wishing you a great Tuesday!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Simple offerings ~

O. my. land...we have been working on a HUGE soap order!
1800 pieces!!!!
They are little rubber duckies floating in a tub of soap but
they all need to be bagged up and tied with ribbon to be shipped.
I feel like I am drowning in soap over here!!!

But after this order is shipped we are hoping for things
to get a little back to normal over here.

I had a special order of a few lavender sachets.
One was for my customer's friend and one for her father ~
she lays the sachet on her pillow each day, gives it a squeeze to release the fragrance
and loves hers so she asked me to make to more for her loved ones.
Here are the two that I sent her:

Of course I made a few extra!!!
Just two though ~
here they are and they've been listed in my Etsy shop if you are interested....
they make such sweet gifts!!!!

Hopefully this MASSIVE soap order will be out of here soon and
I will be able to get back to my creative goodness....
I love you all so!!!!

Happy Friday, Happy Weekend!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

A few pretty things ~

I finally feel like I'm getting back into a bit of a creative groove!
It always helps me if I start with familiar things,
just like these lavender sachets.

Pulling out fabrics, lace and seam binding always gets me on a roll ~
I made a few of my classic wedding lace sachets but made a few
that are a little different! I used a beautiful brown velvet type material,
a gorgeous snippet of brown and blue antique lace trim with a bit of cream lace
and just love the end result!!!

All the sachets have been listed in my Etsy shop if you want to take a peek...

When I was cutting out the sachet fabric I cut out a few needle books as well.
Now to get to working on those ~
I still haven't gotten my sweet old friend (my sewing machine) back
from the repair shop but hopefully I will get it this week.
Thank goodness I have a back up machine
or I really would be chomping at the bit!

I hope you all are doing so good and staying warm!
The weatherman is saying we may have snow
this Wednesday in middle Georgia...
oh well, we'll see what happens!

Wishing you a beautiful Monday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Sweet family...

We had such a great Thanksgiving!!!
We spent Thursday afternoon with hubby's family and
everyone was there...all our boys, Emily and the grandbabies ~
The food was amazing and it was just so good
for everyone to be together!

As I get older I realize how precious these times are...
our families are so very busy all year long it's just
so good that we can stop
and gather together
for this precious time.

Today, we are having my family's Thanksgiving!
My parent's are in town and
since our dining room is now our little soap shop,
we are having our dinner at David and Chase's home...
I'm so thankful our boys don't mind hosting us this year!!
We truly are so very blessed.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving...
whether it was a large event
or even a small one.
To pause and give thanks for all we've been blessed with
is what really matters.

I finally finished the large rose sachet order!!!
Everything is all packaged up and ready to be mailed Monday ~

I did make two extra rose sachets that have been added
to my little Etsy store if you'd like to take a peek!!!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn
