The following events took place in the year 21 BBY,[7] also known as 3256 LY according to the Lothal Calendar[4] and year 7956 in the C.R.C. calendar.[3]

- Count Dooku, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker are captured by the pirate Hondo Ohnaka on Florrum, but ultimately escape.[8]
- Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano help to defend Lurmen on Maridun from Trade Federation General Lok Durd.[9]
- The native Talz are discovered on Pantora's planet Orto Plutonia, and a brief war is fought between the Pantorans and Talz, which is resolved by the Jedi and Pantoran Senator Riyo Chuchi.[10]
- In an attempt to create anti-Jedi biological weapons,[11] the Confederacy of Independent Systems hires Doctor Nuvo Vindi to recreate the Blue Shadow Virus. Vindi is given a laboratory on Naboo as well as battle droids to serve as security. Vindi creates an airborne strand of the virus, but is stopped and captured by the Galactic Republic.[12][7]
- Republic forces under Jedi Generals Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi combat the Separatist Droid Army on Felucia. The Galactic Republic is forced to flee, however, resulting in a Republic defeat.[13]
- The last Zillo Beast is captured by the Republic and presumed dead. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine orders it to be cloned.[7]
- The Confederacy of Independent Systems takes back Geonosis; however, the Galactic Republic launches a costly assault and retakes the world. Due to their victory, the Republic is able to capture Separatist Council member Poggle the Lesser.[7]
- The Death Star plans are first revealed to the Strategic Advisory Cell by Dr. Gubacher and Professor Sahali.[14]
- Aurra Sing is hired by Ziro Desilijic Tiure to assassinate Padmé Amidala, targeting the Senator at the Alderaan Refugee Conference. The bounty hunter is stopped by Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano, who accompanied Amidala to the conference after foreseeing the attempt.[15]
- The Confederacy of Independent Systems launches a massive attack on the clone home planet of Kamino.[7]
- The Trade Federation blockades Pantora in an attempt to force the moon to join the Separatist Alliance, sending bounty hunters to kidnap Pantoran Supreme Chairman Notluwiski Papanoida's daughters as well. The daughters are rescued from Tatooine and the Droid Control Ship by the Chairman, his son Ion, Senator Riyo Chuchi and Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano, forcing the blockade to end.[16]
- Cad Bane holds the Galactic Senate hostage in order to free Ziro the Hutt from prison.[17]
- The Separatists notably order more than three million battle droids with financial help from the InterGalactic Banking Clan.[18]
