- "It all began in a public house on the planet Dantooine."
- ―Marda Ro, in her journal
381 BBY, or 381[2] Before the Battle of Yavin, was a year in the 'ABY-BBY' dating system[7] that was a part of the High Republic Era. During the year,[1] tensions between the Galactic Republic and the Togruta species spawned in the aftermath of the Republic-Togruta conflict existed.[8] Around that same year,[2] Marda Ro—the Evereni[6] founder of a group of pirates who would eventually become the Nihil[9]—began[6] her[9] search for others of her species by visiting the planet Dantooine, where she ended up recruiting the Twi'lek Fori Nagor into her group of marauders.[6]
Behind the scenes[]
381 BBY was first indirectly mentioned in Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi, a reference book written by Cole Horton[8] and released on February 28, 2023,[10] as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.[8] It later appeared in a flashback in the short story "A Closed Fist Has No Claws," written by Tessa Gratton and published in the young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life[6] released on September 5, 2023,[11] also as a part of the multimedia project.[6]

Notes and references[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi states that tensions between the Galactic Republic and Togrutas caused by the Republic-Togruta conflict existed for some 150 years before the events of The High Republic: The Rising Storm, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 231 BBY. Therefore, the tensions must have existed during 381 BBY.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 2.2 "A Closed Fist Has No Claws" establishes that Marda Ro visited Dantooine around a year after taking possession of the Gaze Electric, an event that Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates to 382 BBY. Therefore, Ro's trip to Dantooine must have occurred around 381 BBY.
- ↑ Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious dates the assassination attempt on Padmé Amidala on Coruscant and the carbon-freezing of Han Solo—events that Star Wars: Timelines places in the years 22 BBY and 3 ABY of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system, respectively—to 7955.442.1 and 7980.421.2 in the Coruscant reckoning calendar, therefore establishing a difference of approximately 7,977 years between the two dating systems.
- ↑ Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide places the founding of the Galactic Empire in the year 3258 LY of the Lothal Calendar. Star Wars: Timelines dates the proclamation of the New Order to 19 BBY, placing the zero point—the Battle of Yavin—of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system around 3277 LY and therefore establishing a difference of approximately 3,277 years between the two dating systems.
- ↑ Per Star Wars: The Rebel Files, a calendar existed during the reign of the Galactic Empire the zero point of which was the Empire's founding. Star Wars: Timelines dates the proclamation of the New Order to the year 19 BBY of the 'ABY-BBY' dating system, therefore establishing a difference of approximately nineteen years between the two dating systems.
