The Luna Blaster (ノヴァブラスター nova burasutā?, lit. Nova Blaster) is a Main weapon in the Splatoon series, created by Neo. It was released on 2015-06-24 at 02:00. It comes in a set with Ink Mines and the Inkzooka.

The Luna Blaster returns in Splatoon 2 with a modified color scheme and slightly tweaked performance. It comes with Splat Bombs and Baller. It also appears in two Deepsea Metro's stations: Dinky Ink Station and Footloose Station.

The Luna Blaster returns in Splatoon 3 with a slightly different design. The only difference is that the cover is now partially transparent. It comes with Splat Bombs and Zipcaster. It also appears in only 1 mission in Alterna: Torture Tour.

Appearance[]

The Luna Blaster's main body is round and smooth with a hole at the end to let out blaster shots. The back half is white, while the front half changes color to match the user's ink in both games. The back half houses a handhold with the trigger on it. Sticking out of the back of the Luna Blaster is a ball on the end of a thin stick, and an attachment that is similar but bigger is placed above the hole in the front. In Splatoon, there is a Neo logo written in Inkling language on the back half. In Splatoon 2, the text is replaced by a faint Neo logo icon. In Splatoon 3, the parts of its shell that match the user's ink color are now semitransparent, revealing its internal components.

Description[]

The Luna Blaster, much like other blasters, fires an explosive round that lets it deal damage to opponents hiding behind obstacles or around corners. It takes one direct hit or two indirect hits to splat an opponent but shooting the opponent directly rather than relying on the blast takes careful and precise aim due to the weapon's low firing rate. However, out of all blasters that can splat opponents in one direct hit (Luna Blaster, Blaster, Range Blaster), the Luna Blaster actually has the largest blast size and fastest fire rate except for the clash blaster, but the shortest range.

Weapon Quote[]

Splatoon[]

  • The Luna Blaster is a specialized shooter that can unleash explosive power at close range!

Its rate of fire is good, and its blasts cover a wide area, but you'll need the Inkzooka to hit far-off foes. Oh, and the Ink Mines can really make a difference in the right hands, so this set is perfect for veterans! - Sheldon's Introduction.

Splatoon 2[]

  • The Luna Blaster may look cute, but its short-range exploding ink shots pack a serious wallop. It's got a decent fire rate but lacks range, so it comes with Splat Bombs to keep your opponent's right where you want 'em. The final blast the Baller special provides is huge, too. Think about the map terrain around you when it's time to blow! - Sheldon's Introduction.

Splatoon 3[]

  • Next is the Luna Blaster. With a rapid-fire rate and explosive Ink coverage, it's great for close combat. And it's see-through! We hear the new design is so hot that it's hard to find at stores. Our intern assures us that she didn't walk straight past it. But it IS see-through... — @SplatoonNA on Twitter

Strategy[]

The Luna Blaster rivals the power of the Blaster, making it able to take out an enemy in one shot, or two hits of the small explosive bursts this weapon has. The downside is that it has an EVEN SHORTER range than the Blaster, which has a short range already. But it does make up for it with nearly double the rate of fire, making it much more fitting to cover turf, and is equipped with the strategic Ink Mine. Finally, for when the player just can't reach those enemy Inklings, the player can sweep through their whole team with the Inkzooka.

Tips for facing each weapon type:

  • Shooter-type weapons will give the player trouble unless the player can get the jump on them, as the player is outraged by even the other Blaster weapons. If an enemy spots the player, backpedal while firing shots, or just lay an Ink Mine and find a new place to spread your turf.
  • Roller-type weapons are your only favored matchup, as the player can splat in one shot, but you have a decent rate of fire. Backpedal while firing at them, and you'll come out victorious, or you can lay an Ink Mine in a closed area to deter these players from advancing further.
  • Charger-type weapons are the bane of your existence. Spend your time spreading your turf until you can pull out an Inkzooka and take them out.
  • Corners and tight openings are your friends. Use the air-burst feature of this weapon to damage enemies that you don't have line-of-sight with. Also, set a mine in case they rush around said corner or opening.

Trivia[]

  • In Splatoon, the Luna Blaster and its variant, as well as the Inkbrush and its variants have the shortest-range stat in the game.
    • This continues in Splatoon 2, except the Inkbrush has slightly less range.
  • The Luna Blaster appears to be a jet turbine; with the protruding parts representing the oxygen intake.
  • This weapon was released at 7 PM PST on June 23rd, 2015, in North America.
