Tricolor Turf War is a three-minute battle mode in Splatoon 3 that can only be played during the second half of a Splatfest. It is classified as a Regular Battle. Players must ink the most turf to win the match, and are split into three teams. The defending team will consist of four players that will appear in two opposite sides. Meanwhile the other two teams, called the attacking teams, consisting of two players each, will try to get the Ultra-Signal in the middle of the stage. While the two teams of two players are technically working together, they are still able to attack and splat each other.

Tricolor Turf Wars take place on a single map per Splatfest that doesn't rotate out at all, but which has been modified to contain two spawn points near the middle of the map for the defending team to use,

Depending on the result of a Tricolor Turf War, clout (which goes towards the Open Clout results) is given as follows:

For the defenders, they gain 3000 Clout if they successfully defeat both opposing teams, along with any clout from turf inked.

For the attackers, if they make an attempt on the Ultra Signal, but failed to claim it, the player who did so gains some clout. If they manage to claim the Ultra Signal, even if they do it both times during the match, they gain some more clout. And if either attacking team manages to get more turf than the defenders, they gain a big chunk of clout. However, they do not gain clout from inking turf, and as such it is possible to not gain any clout if you fail to make a single attempt on the Ultra Signal, and the defending team wins.

Once the Ultra Signal is captured by one of the attacking teams, a Sprinkler of Doom sporting their respective Deep Cut member's clan logo will descend to ink a large portion of turf around it for the rest of the match, which can sometimes help tip the final results in the attacking teams' favor as both attacking teams win as long as one of them has more turf covered than the defenders.
