Sword Grumer (ソードグルマー Sōdo Gurumā) is a sword-themed Kurumaju from the Great Space Invasion Running Team Hashiriyan.
History
First Attack
After receiving his long-awaited package that turned out to be the Legendary Sword of Reflector via delivery by Bun Violet and Byun Diesel, Cannonborg summons Itasha to use the Ignition Key on the weapon to create the Sword Grumer.
Later, Sword Grumer is chasing civilians and wrecking buildings with a platoon of Nejiretta, one of which catches a helpless bystander and begins beating them with its weapon as the humans all scream in fear creating Ghassolin. Sword absorbs it and then corners the fleeing crowd to make them scream more as he gets stronger from the Ghassolin. Taiya and company arrive to fight off the Nejiretta with Jou and Mira directing the civilians to safety. The Nejiretta try to rush the heroes but they transform into the Boonboomgers and do a roll call while moving around in combat, which ends with all the Nejiretta destroyed. The team then tries to engage Sword, but he proves more difficult than they realize as their attacks make him stronger by absorbing damage and using it to increase his attack power. Taiya tries to utilize a strategy of attacking quickly with rapid fire from their guns so that Sword has no time to absorb the damage but this proves ineffective as it also makes Sword stronger.
As Sword increases in strength, he gains new combat abilities and easily begins taking down the Boonboomgers, with Taiya the last one still standing. He is flung into the air by Sword’s strength and quickly summons a tire to cushion his fall, with the Rangers regrouping. Cannonborg makes himself known to the Boonboomgers, with the Trio surprised he is there considering his usual habit of working behind the scenes. Agent Saibu and Bun Bun then figure out that Cannonborg was the UFO they detected when Mad Rex was defeated. The custom chief gloats now that Sword Grumer has a large amount of Ghassolin in his body, his ability will make his strength increase exponentially upon every attack and thanks the Boonboomgers for helping him achieve this result. He came out of hiding to witness his experiment’s success, with Sword resuming his attack on the Rangers.
Taiya tries to boost his power and face Sword by himself, but Sakito arrives and uses his super speed to knock Taiya, Sword and the Boonboomgers away. Cannonborg and the Trio wonder who the human is, which amuses Sakito as they don’t recognize him in this form, he transforms with the Boonboom Controller into the Ranger from before with a bombastic shower of purple lightning bolts. The team is shocked by this development, Jou is in disbelief that the person antagonizing them was a Boonboomger and Mira is equally surprised to see another “tire human”. Sakito says he is nothing like them, he is the universe’s greatest cleaner, Bun Violet.
Cannonborg is interested in this new Ranger and observes while the Trio kick themselves knowing that they were right that the Ranger was trouble. Sword engages Sakito, who uses his superior speed and his crossbow weapon to dodge Sword and strikes him repeatedly in the same spot. This only makes Sword stronger at first, but then after using a Gatling mode to repeatedly strike the arm blades and ram him with a tire enhanced double kick, Sword’s arm blades break off.
Sakito then finishes Sword off with his finisher: The Byun Byun Arrow Drive. Sword reverts back into the legendary sword of Reflector upon exploding, which Cannonborg retrieves and is satisfied with the results. He says that with the Ghassolin stored up and the sharpening of the sword as a Grumer, things will turn out amazing for him as he leaves. TV STORY-Bakuage 16: Purple Settler
Second Attack
After Sakito make a deal with Cannonborg on joining the assassination job in return for the stolen card, he will provide support for the mission, reviving Sword Grumer with the Reflector Sword and Ittasha’s Ignition Key.
Later on while Sakito faces off with Taiya, the Trio and Sword Grumer arrived with Kakeru, his family and employees as hostage. Sword threatens them with his arm blades, which causes the hostages to scream and generate Ghassolin that he begins absorbing. Sakito recognizes Kakeru and Taiya confirms that is his best friend from 10 years ago, the latter tries to save the hostages but Ittasha stops him, telling Taiya if he takes another step the hostages will be harmed. Decotorade and Yaiyai try to pressure Sakito to carry out the hit on the Boonboomgers, but he gets furious at what the Hashiryans are doing to his friend Kakeru and draws his bowgun in preparation to shoot the Trio. Sword decides to terminate the hostages as punishment for Sakito’s defiance, using his Hidden Blade: Hairpin Curve technique to rapidly shoot sword beams at the hostages. Sakito urges Byundi to save them, who uses his super speed to try to deflect the attack, but the sword beams move to avoid him and it seems like the people are done for. But the four Boonboomgers arrive and help Byundi move the hostages out of harm’s way and somewhere safe at super speed. Kakeru and his son thank the heroes for saving them, with Mira telling the boy to stay back since it’s going to get a little crazy as they are going to stop the bad guys. The Rangers regroup with Taiya, who figured out beforehand that the Hashiryans hired Sakito and Ishiro knew that both parties would act on their own agendas. Byundi admitted that he sought the help of the Boonboomgers, which was fortuitous since he could not have saved the hostages on his own.
The Trio are dizzy from being spun around by the turbocharged tire people, with Ittasha noticing that the trading card is missing from her pocket, which Genba had procured from her to return to Sakito. Kakeru sees the card and realizes that the man in purple is Sakito. The Trio get upset and chant that Sakito is a dirty thief, which irritates him further as he says he is terminating his job with the Hashiryans.
The Trio warn him that going up against the space mafia will make life harder for him, but Sakito is fine with that because he doesn’t like them anyways, vowing to destroy the Hashiryan. Cannonborg tries to kill Sakito by sniping him from a nearby building, but the cleaner deflects the bullet, Cannonborg finds the behavior of his former ally unacceptable and asks if he wants to be a superhero who defends Earth. Sakito says that he doesn’t care about Earth, he cares about the only thing precious to him and that is the safety of his friend Kakeru and his family. He vows to destroy every single Hashiryan so that Kakeru doesn’t have to be in put in danger ever again, which Taiya feels cranked up about, asking to be Sakito’s client as a cleaner and join the team for his mission. Sakito accepts those terms, transforming into Bun Violet alongside Taiya who changes into Bun Red.
With six Rangers now all assembled, they do a full roll call, which really hypes up Bun Bun with excitement for the coming battle. Cannonborg decides to leave everything to Sword Grumer as he leaves, with a battalion of Nejiretta accompanying the sinister sword. The team of six gets to work clearing out the grunts until Taiya and Sakito get to Sword, who says that the latter will not defeat him again as he absorbs their attacks and creates a new sword technique: Great Spinning Blade: Spinning Turn. This knocks the two Rangers back but they work together to counter the attack with their combined tire projectiles and break Sword again with a dual Bakuage Handling Drive piercing through his chest. Yaiyai goes berserk and activates the Highway Beam, which turns the revived Sword into an evil copy of Boonboom Classic, Boonboom Killer Classic.
Decotorade figures out what that means and summons Boonboom Killer Robo, with the Trio boarding it and combining with Killer Classic to become Boonboom Killer Robo Nitoryuu. Ittasha decides that today she will drive the robot, with her compatriots wishing her luck. The Rangers call the Boonboom Cars, forming Boonboomger Robo Knight, which evenly matches the two robots in power as they clash. Taiya tries to use Knight’s acceleration, but Decotorade counters with their secret weapon, Killer Classic can fly on its own and repeatedly strikes Bun Bun so he can’t execute a boost and the team takes severe damage from Killer Robo’s drill bit hitting them. On his knees, Bun Bun is in danger with Killer pointing its sword at him as Taiya says with the current stats of Killer and their new weapon, no Car they have right now can beat them so switching out would do no good. Sakito arrives and he changes Byundi into Byunbyum Mach Robo, who gives the team air support to drive Killer back, with Byundi saying to Bun Bun he wanted to pay him back for helping him earlier with his tire. Byunbyum Mach blasts Killer with his crossbow and outpaces Killer Classic’s flying, luring and tricking the pursing blade into stabbing Killer Robo in the butt. Sakito destroys Killer Robo with the ByunByum Finish, with the Trio depressed that the same thing happened again this week and are sent blasting off again.
