Tyzonn "Ty", is one of the main protagonists of Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. He is an alien from the planet Mercuria who came to Earth but was forced by Moltor to serve him as a monster. After being saved by the Toru Diamond, he joined the Overdrive Rangers as the Mercury Ranger, their Sixth Ranger.
History[]
Background[]
Tyzonn was a member of the Intergalactic Emergency Responder Squad, a search and rescue team alongside his fiancée Vella. During an unfortunate accident, most of his team were killed in a collapsing cave by the Fearcats, leading Tyzonn to track them down and bring them to justice. After following the Fearcats to Earth, his search was cut short by Moltor, who confronted the young Mercurian and turned him into a monster, though he had promised to turn Tyzonn back after their job was complete.
Joining the Rangers[]
After being sent to England to retrieve the parchment, Mack Hartford realized that Tyzonn was no villain and began working with him to track down the Toru Diamond. After being brought to the Hartford Mansion, the Sentinel Knight used the jewels to revert Tyzonn back to his native form. Although Tyzonn was offered by Andrew Hartford a spot on the team, he declined stating that he had his own mission to tend to. TV STORY-Face to Face
When tracking down the Fearcats who began working with Flurious, Andrew asked Tyzonn to join the team as a Ranger, but he turned it down out of guilt, stating his reason for doing so was because he didn't want to lose another team like he did back on Mercuria. Thanks to Ronny convincing him that what happened in the past wasn't his fault, he was able to move on and took the powers of the Mercury Ranger to combat the Fearcats alongside his new team. Life on Earth[]
In the episode "Just Like Me" he began to look up to Will, which led to him becoming a liability in battle. It wasn't until he saved Will's life that he realized what it meant to just "be himself". He's shown an interest in learning more about his teammates, trying hard to find out about Rose in "One Fine Day". He grows a plant in his spare time.
In "Once A Ranger", the evil Thrax, son of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd and old enemy of the Sentinel Knight, broke free from his imprisonment and united all four Corona Aurora-seeking factions into an alliance to get his revenge. The alliance severed the Overdrive Rangers' connection to the Morphing Grid and they lost their powers. They tried to fight off Mig and Kamdor at Stonehenge with their genetically enhanced skills but were beaten back. At their mercy, the Rangers were saved by a team of Retro Rangers, summoned by the Sentinel Knight to replace the Rangers. Eventually, Adam Park found Alpha 6 in Angel Grove who was able to repair the Morphing Grid and restore the Rangers' powers. The two teams then faced the alliance in one final battle. Tyzonn fought an army of Chillers and destroyed a revived Vulturus with his Drive Detector before the Sentinel Knight stepped in and destroyed Thrax with the power of the Sword Excelsior.
In "Red Ranger Unplugged", he confided in the Rangers about Vella's death at the hands of the Fearcat Crazar who he later helped defeat by combining his sealing powers with the DualDrive Megazord's finishing move. The belief that Vella was killed was proven false in "Home and Away" after Tyzonn was injured by Kamdor in battle, Crazar set up a dream-like reality around her and replicated Vella's form, trying to make him believe everything had been a dream so he wouldn't interfere with the Fearcats' plans. After seeing through the disguise, he learned that Vella was still alive (as she couldn't be replicated otherwise.) He destroyed Crazar in a vicious battle before assisting the Rangers in their final battle against the Fearcats, personally taking out Mig as well. With his original mission over, he vowed that once the Corona Aurora was safe, he would continue his search for Vella.
Following the defeat of the Overdrive Rangers' remaining enemies and Mack's transformation into a human being by the Corona Aurora, Tyzonn finally got his reunion with Vella thanks to Norg rescuing her from his former boss.

Participating in the Legendary Battle[]

After the demise of the X-Borgs, Tommy shook hands with Troy and teleported off along with Tyzonn and the Legendary Rangers. TV STORY-Legendary Battle

Personality[]
A monster at first, Tyzonn is ruthless, cold, arrogant and will stop at nothing to destroy the Power Rangers. This is due to his binding contract with Moltor, whom he is forced to swear loyalty to. Secretly, he is a caring and kind man and will protect as many people as he can due to his previous occupation.
After joining the Power Rangers, he has shown an honorable and fun-loving personality, though he will still reminiscence on his past at times. He is also curious about new things. Primarily, when Rose's behavior intrigued him, he attempted to spend time with her to better understand her. Tyzonn is shown to be good friends with other Rangers, especially Mack, as he saved Tyzonn's life.
Non-Ranger Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Mercury Mimicry: As a Mercurian, Tyzonn has the innate ability to transform his body into pure mercury as a last resort.
- Reformation: Even after being reduced into mercury by Mig's spear, Tyzonn was eventually able to reform his human form although it took several hours.
- Mercury Manipulation: Tyzonn can manipulate mercury, allowing him to use it for multiple outcomes.
- Force Field Generation: Tyzonn can wave his hand in a big circle in front of his face to generate a massive force field in front of him that can deflect attacks. This was strong enough to deflect a blast from Mig's bazooka and destroy the weapon.
- Mercury Blasts: Tyzonn can also throw mercury as a long-ranged attack. It explodes on contact with enough force to destroy two Lava Lizards with one hit.
- Lightning Blasts: Tyzonn can channel mercury into his hands to unleash devastating blasts of blue lightning. This was only used on Crazar during their final battle, being strong enough to send her flying.

Moltor turned Tyzonn into a Pachycephalosaurus/dragon-like monster and used him to obtain the Parchment from the Rangers. He truly hates this form, considering it monstrous. When engaging Mack, the Parchmant was torn and Tyzonn made off with the bigger piece. While trying to recollect the other part of the Parchment, Tyzonn helped a woman before being attacked by Ronny in the Transtek Armor. Mack later chased after him while the others battled Bullox and the Lava Lizards. When Tyzonn didn't want to work with Moltor anymore, the villain attacked them both and was winning. Luckily, Mack was able to save him and escape with the other Rangers following a trail of blood from a wound Tyzonn sustained earlier. In the safety of Hartford's mansion, Tyzonn revealed his story and how he came to be a monster. While helping the Rangers translate the parchment, he spilled lemonade on it to reveal a hidden longitude and latitude of the location. In Indonesia, Tyzonn engaged Bullox in battle and was losing until Mack joined the fight and did a combo attack on the enemy. While riding in the Sonic Streaker, Tyzonn used his monster form to obtain the Toru Diamond from within the volcano's crater. After Bullox's destruction, two of the Corona Jewels obtained by the Rangers changed him back to normal thanks to the information from the Sentinel Knight.
Powers and Abilities[]

- Forehead Lightning Beam: Tyzonn could fire white colored lightning beams from his forehead.
- Teleportation: Tyzonn could teleport to any location at will by transforming into a liquid-like substance called mercury.

- Energy Laser: Tyzonn could also fire a light blue colored energy laser from his spear.
- Energy Slash: Tyzonn could also charge up his spear with purple colored energy and unleash energy slashes of the same color at the enemy. This was strong enough to knock down Bullox with one hit when combined with the Drive Lance's energy slash.

- In "Face to Face", the two-part episode that Tyzonn debuted in, there were a few hints/clues to show the viewers of Tyzonn's reveal, most of which is shown in part 1.
- The first of which is how during Tyzonn's battle agents the Red Ranger, his attack-style perfectly mirrors with the Red Ranger's attack-style, given off an impression that Tyzonn has Ranger-like skills in him.
- The second of which is how Tyzonn stop battling the Red Ranger to gather the crystal bits that he have drop, which hints that he never had interest in fighting the Rangers.
- The third of which is how when compare to Molter's previous monsters, Tyzonn shows more concerns about the people, in which he ask Bullox to "at least wait until everyone is out of the area", additionally, Tyzonn approaches a women and asks her to leave.
- Tyzonn is a playable character in Power Rangers Legacy Wars.
- Tyzonn is the only male Overdrive Rangers who never used the Defender Vest (However, his Japanese counterpart actually did).
