“The power of the Forbidden Five will shatter your divided soul! And through you, it will wreak havoc and destroy everything you loved, as it did to us! Look! Witness the doom of the once mighty Wolf Clan!”

The Wolf Clan (also known as the Army of the Five[1] and the Wolf Mask Army[2]) were a cult[3] formed by the Forbidden Five millennia ago. They were reassembled by Lord Ras to aid him in his quest to conquer the Merged Realms on behalf of his master. They attempted to release the Forbidden Five in the Ritual of the Blood Moon, however they only managed to free Nokt, while the spirit of Rox possessed Jordana.

Some time later, the Elemental Masters of the Wolf Clan competed in the Tournament of the Sources as part of Ras' plan to get to the Source Dragons. During the tournament's victory ceremony, Nokt and Rox revealed their true reasons for participating in the tournament, turning against Ras and corrupting the Wolf mask army, which they sent to attack Ras and the Elemental Masters. The Wolf Clan were eventually defeated by the Elemental Masters and the ninja, with Cinder and the Wolf Mask Warriors being imprisoned, while Ras and the Forbidden Five were scattered to separate realms.

History[]

Background[]

In ancient times within the Wyldness, the Wolf Clan emerged as warriors, guided by the Forbidden Five. Those who excelled in the teachings of the Forbidden Five were honored with Wolf Masks, which amplified their strength and allowed them to tap into the unique abilities and techniques of their mentors. Among these warriors, Lord Argus stood out as the most formidable, possessing neither a Wolf Mask nor the title of Elemental Master, yet demonstrating unwavering loyalty to the Forbidden Five and achieving complete mastery of Shatterspin. The Wolf Clan was once revered as a powerful and noble group during a prosperous era.[4] However, the very powers that elevated them led to their downfall, as the clan became tainted, losing the goodness within their hearts.[5] The wolf warriors turned into agents of chaos, assisting the Forbidden Five in unleashing destruction across the Wyldness, mercilessly eliminating anyone who opposed them, which aligned with the Forbidden Five's vision of domination.[6]

The Wolf Clan devised a plan to invade other realms and cause chaos, which would ultimately lead to their destruction.[7] However, the Dragon Masters intervened and exiled the Forbidden Five to the Nether-Space.[6]

Ancient Wolf Clan

With their leaders gone, Argus took charge of the Wolf Clan, striving to guide the wolf warriors in the same manner as the Forbidden Five. During his efforts to perform Shatterspin, Argus was tricked by Zaiden Kane, who convinced him that he had the potential to become the sixth member of the Forbidden Five. When Argus struck the Gong of Shattering, it unleashed a curse upon the Wyldness, trapping it in a state of half-existence and leading to the downfall of the Wolf Clan, Argus was transformed into the Lycan King and he turned the wolf warriors to stone. However, some wolf warriors managed to escape petrification, allowing their bloodline to survive and give rise to the Children of the Wolf.[4]

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

Recruiting Jordana, Ras used the Source Dragon energy to open the Shadow Dojo. He sent Cinder to find the Mallet of Shattering. Once Cinder got the mallet, Ras reassembled the Wolf Clan. The reassembled Wolf Clan infiltrate the Cloud Kingdom in order to obtain the necessary information for the Ritual of the Blood Moon and make the Writers of Destiny translate the Theroxian texts. When the Ninja arrived, Ras showed them the power of Shatterspin, which force them to retreat. While helping Cinder practice Shatterspin and Jordana use Theroxian magic, Ras' master contacted him and instructed him to use five Cloud monks as a sacrifice for the Ritual. Once the Wolf Clan got what they needed, Ras ordered them to execute the Writers of Destiny and set the Cloud Kingdom to crash. As they gathered to preform the ritual, Ras managed to obtain the spell to free the Forbidden Five. Although the Ninja arrived and managed to use Rising Dragon and freed the five monks. As a result, Ras used Kai as a sacrifice and only managed to free Nokt. However unknown to Ras or the Ninja, Rox's soul managed to escape and possess Jordana right before Bonzle closed the portal, and the other three were left in the Nether-Space.

After Ras' master transported the Wolf Clan to an unknown open field, Ras places a control device on Nokt to ensure his loyalty. Ras then spoke to his master and assured them that they will continue on with the plan by partaking in the Tournament of the Sources to get to the Source Dragons and conquer the realms using their dragon energy that his master wished to wield. Ras then recruited Jay and Frak as replacements for the Forbidden Five in order to win the Tournament. Although before the Tournament, Nokt and Rox had secretly hunted Arc Dragons to obtain their Dragon Ivory crowns to release the rest of the Five. Once Nokt obtained all of the Elemental Powers and was free from the control device, the siblings betrayed Ras by using Rox's magic to turn the Wolf warriors and Cinder to their side. After losing all of the Elemental Powers, the Forbidden Five retreated to one of the portal gates, with Nokt dragging Ras to take his revenge, followed by Arin. As the Forbidden Five destroyed the portal gate, they, alongside Ras and Arin, were stranded in an unknown realm. The Wolf Clan was defeated thanks to the Elemental Masters and imprisoned with Bleckt in Vengestone cages.

Trivia[]

  • The term Wolf Clan was not actually used in the show. Instead, the episode descriptions called them the Wolf Mask Army, and within the episodes, they were identified as the Army of the Five or just Ras' team. The only time where they were mentioned as the Wolf Clan, apart from the sets, was in Shatterspin.
  • They are the seventh villainous faction to consist mainly of humans, following the Anacondrai Cultists, the Sky Pirates, the Sons of Garmadon, the henchmen, the Kryptarium inmates, and the Claws of Imperium.
  • When asked what the idea behind the Wolf Mask Army was, Chris "Doc" Wyatt said "To destroy all enemies."[8]
