Hounddog McBrag is the marshal of the Ninjago Police considered the "toughest sheriff in all of Ninjago."
History[]
Background[]
Hounddog McBrag arrested some of the most wanted criminals in Ninjago such as "Wild Bill TickTock", and the infamous "Kung Fu Cook", and the criminal explosive mastermind "Jean-Paul van Bamm".[1]
Hounddog McBrag[]
After the Police Commissioner was unable to comply with Mayor Trustable's demand to pursue the ninja, Hounddog McBrag was called in. Arriving at the ambush site, McBrag informs every officer present to find them and bring them back to Kryptarium Prison.
The Benefit of Grief[]
McBrag and the officers find Kai, Zane and Dareth with a runaway singer named Sally, and pursues them before managing to stop them at a roadblock, where McBrag demands them to surrender, only for Sally to drive off during his demand, infuriating him, until they end up at a cliff, where McBrag continued with his demand, until their van drives over it, and into a ravine.
McBrag soon pursued them in his truck, managing to ram them and move along the rapids, until Zane uses his power of Ice to obscure the windshield. Smirking at the tactic, McBrag uses the wipers to clear the ice, only to find the truck was also stuck when the ravine ended up frozen at the same time.
The Fifth Villain[]
Down to just two trucks, McBrag and the officers resume their search for the ninja and learn the only location in the desert was a gas station. Arriving at the station, McBrag searches the place while the officers question Twitchy Tim about the ninja's location before he reveals they're hiding behind the counter, and they unintentionally expose themselves when Lloyd reprimanded him.
Just as he was about to arrest them, however, the shelves were soon knocked over by another fugitive named Fugi-Dove, who then pounces on McBrag for the ninja to escape. Managing to get him off, McBrag and the officers exit the gas station, only to find one of the trucks destroyed and the other stolen by the ninja. Stranded without any vehicles, McBrag threw his sunglasses down in frustration.
The Spider's Design[]
McBrag arrived at the Monastery of Spinjitzu to confiscate the Destiny's Bounty as evidence. He asked Wu if he knew where the ninja were, and told him that they were criminals after Wu told asked if he would put them in prison. He handed Wu a letter he intercepted from the Postman, which he opened to take a look inside, and threatened to arrest him if he was seen aiding and abetting the ninja, with Wu telling him that it would be fun to see.
Darkness Within[]
McBrag arrived to arrest the ninja once Nya had rescued them from the collapsed N line, only for them to escape the moment he arrived. This caused an enraged McBrag to throw down his sunglasses once again.
Return of the Ice Emperor[]
McBrag showed up at the Destiny's Bounty wreckage with the truck he managed to recover, where, regardless of the current situation, attempted to arrest Lloyd, only for Garmadon to prepare to attack him before Lloyd stopped him, making the former hit a sign. Using the opportunity, they went into the sewers, where McBrag followed them, only to come in contact with some crystalized Hypnobrai before Lloyd saved him, surprising McBrag and leaving him amazed and realizing his mistakes.
Roots[]
McBrag was among the many citizens cheering the ninja for their victory against the Overlord.
The Arrest[]
McBrag was talking to himself in his office, thinking about how he contributed to the Overlord's defeat, and how he arrested the most amount of criminals, but wasn't able to arrest the ninja. Although he admitted to himself that Lloyd saved him from the crystalized Hypnobrai, and that the ninja defeated the Overlord, he decided to at least arrest a few of the ninja for an hour to not ruin his reputation.
McBrag stole Garmadon's plant Christofern and gave him an address to a warehouse. McBrag along with other police officers faced of against Lloyd and Garmadon with the use of mechs powered by Vengestone. Unfortunately, the mechs were destroyed by the two Oni Forms. McBrag eventually explained the situation to Lloyd, who felt bad for him, so he allowed him to lock him in the bathroom, making McBrag feel better.
McBrag later assists the ninja in rebuilding the monastery as a sign of apology and atoning for his guilt.
Personality[]
Hounddog McBrag appears to be proud in his position as marshal. Once done with a speech, he helps rephrase the words he spoke to those who do not understand so that they can understand better. He can also be annoyed when nothing goes his way, such as when he tries to make an arrest, ends up stuck in the ravine, and when one of his trucks was stolen by the ninja.
Fitting to his title as the toughest sheriff in Ninjago, McBrag can be rather condescending and even callous, regarding the ninja no longer as heroes and instead as criminals even though they only broke the law so they could save one of their teammates, and confiscating the Destiny's Bounty as evidence. He also showed little to no respect towards Wu, going as far as threatening to arrest him if he ever finds out he's been helping the ninja while they're on the run.
McBrag possesses incredible dedication, as he is shown to not step down from a task no matter how hard it may be or what the situation is like. An example of this is when he chases the ninja off of a cliff and down rapids. He was also still willing arrest them during the takeover of the Crystal Army, ignoring the current state of Ninjago just to do his job, something that Lloyd calls him out on. After the latter saves him from being infected, he finally understands the ninja are not bad people and is among many others who helps them in rebuilding the monastery.
