My Little Pony #20 is the twentieth and final issue of IDW Publishing's My Little Pony comic series, based on the Generation 5 film My Little Pony: A New Generation. In this issue, Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm desperately work together to outwit Milkyway and return their lives to normal.
Summary[]
Due to the thunderstorm Milkyway created in the previous issue, the royal dinner and concert are cancelled, and ponies are forced to take shelter from the storm indoors. Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm are bitter over this development as it appears that Milkyway has outsmarted them. However, when Pipp sees ponies sharing videos of themselves on social media, she gets the idea of turning the live royal dinner and concert into virtual events to be streamed to everyone's smartphones.
Pipp and Zipp announce the now virtual royal dinner and concert on social media, but ponies are still angry over how Zipp treated Carotang in Issue #18. At Pipp's suggestion, Zipp goes to Carotang's residence to give a genuine apology and invite him to headline the virtual concert; in return, Carotang offers to let Zipp use his in-home theater and stage. Meanwhile, Misty goes to see Milkyway and apologizes on her friends' behalf for being so confrontational with her in the previous issue. However, when she informs Milkyway of Pipp and Zipp's latest plans, Milkyway goes to stop them.
The virtual royal dinner starts, and Pipp begins by delivering a speech to the audience watching on their phones. Milkyway bursts in and attempts to put a stop to it, but upon realizing she is on camera, she plays along. With the support of Zipp watching, Pipp finishes her speech, and Carotang begins the virtual concert. With Carotang's concert presence, Zipp's followers forgive her for her previous bad actions. Pipp and Zipp join Carotang on stage to perform, and the understanding and appreciation they have come to feel for each other causes their cutie marks to finally switch back.
Some time later, Pipp and Zipp each express a newfound respect for what the other does, and Milkyway gets disciplined by her fellow nymphs for her chaotic wish-granting ways. Pipp and Zipp record a social media video explaining to their followers what happened over the past couple of days. When the Pippsqueaks show up to fawn over Pipp like they usually do, Pipp invites Zipp to share the spotlight.
Quotes[]
- Queen Haven: I suggest you all settle in here for the night.
- Sunny Starscout: That would be much appreciated, your Majesty.
- Izzy Moonbow: Yes, sleepover!
- Hitch Trailblazer: Mission "Get Milkyway to Reverse Pipp's Wish" completely backfired.
- Izzy Moonbow: A rainstorm is the perfectest of perfect times for my famous Izzy s'mores! Graham crackers filled with marshmallows, chocolate, a cupcake, a piece of cheesecake, and one full pineapple.
- Pipp Petals: Check out these ponies online. They're doing exactly what Izzy's doing. Making dinner and sharing it with their loved ones at home. We can't be together together tonight, but everypony has a phone.
- Zipp Storm: So we can throw a virtual royal dinner.
- Pipp Petals: And concert. Let's beat Milkyway by doing this our way.
- Zipp Storm: You were right. I couldn't handle being a pop star. I screwed everything up.
- Pipp Petals: You were put in a majorly hard position with Carotang. Anypony would have struggled with what to do. Even me.
- Carotang: Looks like the storm blew some trash onto my front porch.
- Zipp Storm: "Hi" is actually a much more common greeting.
- Zipp Storm: You have a home theater?!
- Carotang: I'm pretty sure they come standard in most homes.
- Zipp Storm: I can see why your fans find you so relatable.
- Milkyway: No, no, no! If they go through with this, they're going to make a complete fool out of me!
- Pipp Petals: Family is complicated. We love each other, of course, but that doesn't stop us from getting mad or frustrated. When I'm feeling that way, I try to remember that family really does make us better. But only when we're able to really listen and understand what others are going through. I haven't always been the best at that, but I'm trying to be better now.
- Zipp Storm: You sure know how to put on a show.
- Pipp Petals: Like sister, like sister.
- Pipp Petals: This is Pipp and Zipp signing off. Zipp, Pipp, hooray!
- Zipp Storm: Why do you always have to go looking for the negatives? Sometimes I wish you weren't such a perfectionist.
- Pipp Petals: Zipp!
- Milkyway: You rang?
