My Little Pony: Classics Reimagined – Little Fillies #4 is the fourth and final issue of IDW Publishing's My Little Pony: Classics Reimagined - Little Fillies comic miniseries, adapting the 1868 Louisa May Alcott novel Little Women. In this issue, Jo March is still in Broncord while her sisters have left to pursue careers, so she sets out on her own in search of something to write about.

Summary[]

Some time after the previous issue, Jo is the last of the March sisters to still be living at Orchard House in Broncord, Massahoofetts. Meg has become an apprentice of magic under Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, Amy is traveling the world to study fashion, their mother and father have succeeded in ending the war between Caninia and Abyssinia, and Laurie is attending school in Appleloosa.

Following the advice of her mother Marmee, Jo visits her great-aunt Josephine's boarding house and takes on a job teaching a group of youngsters (portrayed by the Young Six). Though she starts to develop a sense of purpose, she still struggles to find success as a writer. On her way to the local newspaper, Jo bumps into her writing idol A.K. Yearling. The two talk over tea, and Jo shares with A.K. her writing struggles; A.K., similar to what Laurie told Jo in a previous issue, encourages her to write from personal experiences, even if those experiences might be boring, and that it is okay to embellish the truth a little for the sake of a good story.

Some time later, the March family and Laurie have gathered at Orchard House to celebrate Laurie's graduation from school. The March sisters reunite and share news of their respective careers: Meg has learned much about magic from Celestia and Luna and wishes to pass on her knowledge to the next generation, and Jo gives her the Plumfield estate she just inherited from Josephine to open a School of Friendship; and Amy has opened the Carousel Boutique in Broncord.

Jo finds Laurie, who is hiding by herself out of being overwhelmed by the party, and reveals to her that she met A.K. Yearling. After the two go on one last adventure as "Rainbow Dash" and her sidekick "Applejack", the March family (including Beth) and Laurie take a photo together, and the story ends with Jo finishing writing her latest book.

Quotes[]

Rainbow Dash: Yeah, don't say it, don't say it, I know it's bad. [imitating Amy] Well, dahling, then we won't! No need to be so dramatic. [imitating Laurie] Partner, maybe it's time to try yer hand at something else? [imitating Meg] I'm too focused on my magic career to offer any good practical advice. [imitating Beth] Now, Jo, that's mean of you to make Meg say that, don't you think?
Pinkie Pie: I thought I was the only pony who talked to inanimate objects! Like that time with the toaster... So brave...
Pinkie Pie: Wink!
Rainbow Dash: Pinkie, you don't have to say wink if you're actually winking--
Pinkie Pie: But, Rainbow Dash! This is a caption. It's the only way for the reader to get the full picture!
Rainbow Dash: You're--you're--A.K. Yearling!!!
A.K. Yearling: Last I checked.
Rainbow Dash: How did, uh, that get there--
A.K. Yearling: ...You dropped it.
Rainbow Dash: Ha ha! But did I?*
Editor's Note: *See page 4.
A.K. Yearling: It took me a while to find my writing voice--the space I felt comfortable in. For a long time, I felt like a fraud. And while I was trying to figure it out, everypony else was leaving me in the dust. But turns out, a lot of good can come from writing the truth. [...] Sometimes the truth is boring, and that's okay. Sometimes it's also scary to write about because it's real. What I'm trying to say is just be you. It might be scary, but it might be worth it, too.
Discord: It's a euphemism!
Fluttershy: Oh? A euphemism for what?
Discord: Never mind!!!
Rarity: You're looking at the brand-new owner of the fabulously chick Carousel Boutique, right here in Broncord!
Twilight Sparkle: Chic.
Rarity: Oh, I know, I know! But it's just like old times this way, isn't it?
Rainbow Dash: We don't know where we're going, but we do know where we've been.
Applejack: Ha! When did ya get so wise, Jo?
Discord: Say "This adaptation took a lot of artistic liberties!"
Pinkie Pie: La-sa-gna!
