My Little Pony: Classics Reimagined – Little Fillies #2 is the second issue of IDW Publishing's My Little Pony: Classics Reimagined - Little Fillies comic miniseries, adapting the 1868 Louisa May Alcott novel Little Women. In this issue, the March sisters face personal hardships and difficulties in the pursuits of their individual dreams.

Summary[]

During a meeting of the March sisters' "Ponyville Club", Jo proposes that they invite her new friend Laurie to join the club. Despite minor opposition from her sisters—particularly Amy, who feels her opinions go largely ignored—Laurie is welcomed into the group, and she returns the March sisters' hospitality with a new mailbox. Later, Amy uses one of Meg's spell books to search for emeralds for her fashion class, and Beth becomes acquainted with Laurie's grandmother.

Jo finishes her latest manuscript, removing the sidekick character of Applejack to make it more closely resemble the works of A.K. Yearling. Some time later, Amy returns from a disastrous fashion class and learns that Laurie invited Meg, Beth, and Jo to a Daring Do stage play. Amy desperately wants to attend, but Jo refuses to let her, especially since Laurie only gave them three tickets. As Meg, Beth, and Jo leave for the play, an angered Amy notices Jo's completed manuscript.

During the play, Laurie questions Jo about removing the Applejack character from her manuscript. Jo says she just wants to write like A.K. Yearling, but Laurie encourages her to take more risks with her writing. When Meg, Beth, and Jo return home from the play, Jo discovers that Amy, out of anger over their argument earlier, burned Jo's manuscript in the fireplace. Marmee breaks up their ensuing squabble, but Jo refuses to forgive Amy for what she has done.

For some time afterward, Jo flatly rejects Amy's attempts to make amends. When Amy follows Jo as she and Laurie go ice-skating, she falls through the ice and subsequently catches a cold. As Jo brings her a bowl of soup, Amy apologizes for burning her manuscript, and Jo admits to being a little jealous that Amy has her career path figured out while she herself is still struggling to become a writer. Amy gives Jo a brand new book to write new stories in, and the two sisters make peace.

Quotes[]

Discord: Oh-ho, I spy with my little spy a poorly concealed plot device--
Twilight Sparkle: A.M. is asked to please stop adding bows to things that do not need bows.
Rarity: May I ask why stating something in triplet automatically means we have to listen?
Twilight Sparkle: Triplicate.
Rarity: Yes, that's what I said!
Rarity: I won't vote--because it's not--anypony listens to me--this is not too many bows!
Discord: There's the fourth-wall break! We're mandated one every issue.*
Editor's Note: *No, we aren't.
Discord: Yes, we are.**
Editor's Note: **Stop arguing with me.
Rarity: I am vengeance! I am the night!
Rarity: This commitment to the source material cannot continue.
Fluttershy: I mean, I do think we're taking a few liberties...
Rainbow Dash: Laurie only got three tickets.
Rarity: There should be four tickets! I distinctly remember there being four tickets in the original book--
Rainbow Dash: You were just complaining about us following things too closely!
Applejack: New roads are scary, fer sure. But I reckon you should write the stuff that scares you. That's the stuff worth writin'.
Rarity: Now that you mention it, I do remember moving it.
Rainbow Dash: Where?!
Rarity: Hmph. I felt things were a bit icy between us when we parted, so I put it someplace... warm.
Soldier: What is it, sir?
Cheese Sandwich: I felt something... A great disturbance in the vibes.
Pinkie Pie: As a wise Marmee once said--"Don't let the sun go down upon your anger. Forgive each other, help each other, and begin again tomorrow."
Fluttershy: Oh, that was beautiful!
Twilight Sparkle: That wasn't in the script.
Pinkie Pie: Nah. I read the book!
Rarity: I am sorry, Jo. I was just so... so mad! No pony seems to take me very seriously.
Rarity: I know that nothing could replace the story you lost--
Rainbow Dash: You burned.
Rarity: Yes, all right, the story I burned, while following sanctioned plot points, might I add!
