Tendar IV was the fourth planet in the Tendar star system. It was class M and inhabited by the humanoid Tendaran civilization. It had an orange sky.
History[]
In the mid 23rd century, Tendar IV's inhabitants had advanced to a mid-21st century Earth-level of technology. However, they recently invented the transtator, giving them subspace technology that allowed them both subspace communications and long-range sensors. The planet had nuclear fusion power generators worldwide and a system of global satellites in orbit.
In 2265, the USS Enterprise orbited Tendar IV after picking up subspace transmissions from the planet. Their prime minister invited a landing party to transport down for first contact. However, it was a ruse to incarcerate Starfleet officers without trial or appeal as an example of their totalitarian legal system. Captain James T. Kirk arrested the prime minister and the leader of the capital city prison pending a hearing aboard the Enterprise, to give them a taste of Federation law.
Kirk recommended that the planet be quarantined until its inhabitants were more trustworthy. (TOS comic: "Prisoners")
