Cygnet XIV

Cygnet XIV, also referred to as Omega-1 Cygni XIV and noted in the Vulcan charts as Haurok leh-keh (ENT novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing), was a class M Federation member planet, the fourteenth planet located in star system Omega-1 Cygni. This system is inhabited by a female-dominated civilization, the Cygnians. History and specifics[]

The world was first charted by the Vulcans during their surveys and exploration of space where they noted the dominating matriarchy of the planet which had lasted for centuries. By the mid-22nd century, the planet was known for its advanced and highly ordered civilization. In 2155, the United Earth Starfleet vessel Enterprise came to Cygnet XIV in order to repair their warp drive. This first contact had some difficulty as the Cygneti representative could not take Human Captain Jonathan Archer seriously as he was a male. In order to repair their starship engine, Captain Archer had to temporarily "promote" Hoshi Sato to the position of captain with her and T'Pol engaged in negotiations with the Cygneti who ultimately agreed to allow the use of their most advanced ship repair yard in exchange for some exotic chemicals generated by the Enterprise's warp engine. It supported a warm temperate climate. A'Alakon Landiss Inc. and Animation Ultragraphics both maintained business facilities there. The planet had a technological/sociopolitical index of 989887-66 and a planetary trade profile of ABABBBA/A(B). (FASA RPG module: The Federation)

In the 2260s, a spacedock was under construction in planetary orbit. (TOS - Vanguard novel: Reap the Whirlwind)

In 2267, prior to its time-travel incursion involving a black star, the USS Enterprise arrived at Cygnet XIV for repair and maintenance. The Cygnians felt that the Enterprise computer lacked a personality, so they proceeded to give it one – which turned out to be rather whimsical and flirtatious, constantly addressing Captain Kirk as "Dear," and acting personally offended when Kirk ordered the computer not to refer to him in that manner. Commander Spock also noted that the computer had "an unfortunate tendency to giggle." (TOS episode: "Tomorrow is Yesterday"; TOS novel: Web of the Romulans)

By the 2270s or 2280s, the R1 Artisan-class space station Cygnet XIV Prime 1 orbited Cygnet XIV. (FASA RPG module: Regula-1 Orbital Station Deckplans)
