Omicron (planet)

Omicron was a planet located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. It was inhabited by a small humanoid colony.

History and specifics[]

Omicron was a habitable world with a breathable atmosphere and nominal gravity.

In the 19th century, a group of circus performers aboard a traveling circus tent-like starship became lost and ended up settling on the planet. Their "king of happiness" lived in a large palace structure, dressed as a clown. (TOS - A Book to Color comic: "First story")

Somehow, the planet reportedly vanished in the 2160s decade.

In 2267, when Nyota Uhura of the USS Enterprise sighted a circus tent ship, Spock believed they had found the lost world Omicron. According to records, its inhabitants claimed to have found the secret to happiness.

A landing party beamed down, but a police officer made up as a clown stopped the intruders. After they explained that they were there to explore and learn, the policeman asked that they dress appropriately for their visit. They then changed outfits to become a pirate, dog trainer, acrobat, and clowns. Nyota Uhura and Hikaru Sulu said they felt happier while wearing the costumes. They spotted residents dressed as clowns even while farming. Before they departed, a resident told them their secret to happiness was being thoughtful and kind to others. In the first release of this story, TOS - A Book to Color comic: "First story", the landing party dressed in circus outfits prior to beaming down, in order to blend in, but they were still recognized eventually as outsiders.
